Hello, All,
I'm NZ born (Dunedin) but now UK based (Derby) and am comimg back home for a holiday in November. I'll be based in Morrinsville (at a friends place), friend is currently negotiating a bike for me (NICE friend) and I plan to go north to Cape Reinga and then south to Bluff - and back again. Hope to catch up with various friends in Hamilton, Taupo, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Alexandra/Clyde, Wanaka and visit some places I didn't get to in my youth.
Hope to find a bike meet or two on the way round as well.
My current ride is a MotoGuzzi California 111 LAPD, and I have a play on the drag strip on a Honda VTR 1000 powered Top Gas Class Supertwin (see www.supertwins.co.uk) so I also hope to catch a drag meeting somewhere as well.
Contacts would be appreciated as I'm doing this run solo (mid-life crisis!!!!)
Looking forward to meeting new friends.

See if you can look at the Burt Munro Rally (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=68922) in November as part of your ride, it should be a good event.
Also welcome I am sure many members will have great suggestions for you.

Thanks for the welcome, folks.
I plan to be in ChCh 14/15 November and would like to find the Britten Motorcycle Co. so some guidance would definitely be worth a beer or two.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the Burt Munro do as I will be back in the North Island - New Plymouth way 28/29 Nov.

Gudday Don.
If you are starting your trip from Morrinsville, perhaps a good "warm up" ride is around the Coromandel peninsula!
Fabulous day out riding and a way to get to know your bike before setting off on the big journey?
Keep us posted.
P.S. Welcome to KB!:ride:

Hi, again,
Just a follow up - having now recovered from the UK National Drag Racing Finals at Santa Pod (apart from being knocked out first round - again) we had a good weekend. I'm planning a day ride around Coromandel 5/6 November to familiarise myself with NZ conditions and the bike before setting off north to be at Cape Reinga 8 Nov. then heading south to be in Invercargill 18/19 Nov. then back to base by 30 Nov.
If there is anyone else doing a similar jaunt, let me know and perhaps we can swap stories.

Following up the follow up - trying to firm up my routes etc, and wondering what SH2 is like between Whakatane and Gisborne - any advice?
Blackbird(Geoff) - mentioned your name / bike name to a couple of people at Santa Pod and heard a few bells ringing - I'm planning a run around the Coromandel probably 4/5/6 November - not sure which day yet, but a break for a cuppa/beer would probably be welcome, if you would be willing.
