Slyvester has died. He was a little unwell Saturday and went missing on Sunday. Found his body in the bush below the Homestead this evening.

Although he is named Slyvester, he also got nick named "Sly" and "Wester". He has survived being hit by a car back when he was one (one broke leg fix by a vet with 2 pins at $600) and never showed much sign of it affecting him. Got piece of grass up his nose as a two year old causing him to throw-up (another vet trip). I learnt to put the lid down on the tolet as he would drink the water. He has always been the boss cat of the two even though Kaless is heavier. Never scared of dogs and made a friend out of most of them. Always keep me company when I was home. The first to greet me and first to the food and bed.

Will miss my little black and white mate.

Rest In Peace Slyvester.

Damn that sucks! I am so sorry to hear that...
I think a thread like this makes everyone remember that special pet they had..

My baby made it to the ripe old age of 23! She was phenominal...

Kitty cats take a huge chunk of your loving, and when they go it feels like a piece of you is missing. Sly was obviously a lucky cat to have lived his life with you and you have lots of happy memories to hold on to. My deepest sympathies to you.

Hey Doug, sorry to hear about your cat mate,, I think I may have mentioned it before, but its amazing how much richer our lives are with animals in our household. We had a few cats over the years that Mrs F/F and I have been together, also Dogs, sheep, goats, chooks, Pigs the whole deal.

Still pretty cool getting a greeting from the dogs and cat when you come home from work. .. they don,t ask for much our pets, but they give heaps of unconditional love,... I think know how you must be feeling atm.

There is a massive difference between a farm animal and one that has been a companion!
So nah, its not stupid, I understand 100% why you feel the way you do.

Brought a tear to my eye. Mrs H and I are "cat people". We're still in mourning after the tragic loss of our last beloved Abyssinian...

I know Joni, but it is interesting to find that I am not as cold and hard as I think I am.

Thanks H. Hows Mrs H doing?

We buried our cat a couple of days ago. He was 20 so had a good innings. But I sure miss him...

Sorry about the cat man, they are special creatures and I really like them - they really need to be around us,they need the company...but are so aloof and can't be told what to do,such a contrast of need and independence.Natures finest killers, built for the job down to the last detail ...I loved to watch my cat fast asleep on the lawn - then in the blink of an eye snatch a bird out of the air a metre high.

Funny how the different colours of house cats seems to produce character...I always try for a ginger because I know what I'm going to get, tough, independent and a good mouser, black cats are sneaky, tabbys are wimps...black and white - they are often called Sylvester and I reckon the cartoon character is them for sure, they are a cool cat.

Thuffering Thukatathe... my condolences RIB... I love the aminals.

While I was sleeping once I felt my first cat clump around on top of my blanket... usually he treads carefully while walking around on top but this time his steps were hard... clumsy. I got up and flicked the light on and I saw he was breathing heavily. Thought a bit of air would help him so went over and opened the door for him. Then I saw him drag his body towards the door... his back legs were fucked. I picked him up to try and comfort him but inside I knew there was nothing I could do especially 1:00am in the morning and no vet. He'd been sick a lot lately and I knew these were his last steps. Let him out and he dragged himself into the night to die. I felt ratshit for the rest of the night. Found him a couple of days later under one of next-doors bushes. He's buried in a spot on the main lawn. Never wanted for much except for a regular feed and pats but gave unconditional company in return. Was more human then most humans that I encounter.
(a prayer: "Lord bless Sylvester... give him lots of Whiskas, none of that cheap shit... oh and lots of clean water to clean his kidneys... and scratch him lightly right between the ears every now and then... cats like that. Amen :Punk: )

Thats poos.

Slyvester looks EXACTLY like our cat Enzo. I note he even has the same black spot under his chin. Scary.

Enzo spent 5 days in the bushes this time last year. He had been hit by a car and we couldn't find him anywhere. He managed to drag his mangled body back to our house (back legs not working; just dragging himself along with his front legs from who knows how far away) after we had given up looking for him, but had put out the lost cat signs etc. Broken pelvis, smashed tail, broken leg in about 4 places and massive rotten infection all through his hind quarters. He was fly blown too. We gave him some raw mince (his favourite) wrapped him up in a towel and took him into the vet expectnig him to be put down. 1 year (and nearly $2k but who cares) later he still has all four legs and a crooked tail - walks funny but still catches rats and mice, and still bounds up to strangers that enter our porperty for a hug, and waits on the back door step for us to come home.

I read somewhere that it has been proven that pet owners have a lower risk of getting cancer - if you own a pet I think you'll agree that could well be true.

RIP Wester.

Thanks Dudes. Kaless (the black cat, aka The Black Hole, food just vannishes when it get anywhere close to him)) has been looking after me. Sleeps more on the bed now that Sly is not there to give him a cuff. Kaless will miss Sly more when the next stray cat/dog comes around. The tag team (Kaless & Slyvester) will be down the top cat. Wester (Sly) was the frontal attack cat, while Kaless would bravely attack from behind.

Shot a feral Tom-cat last night that had been hanging around the Homestead on and off for the last month (had been try to get rid of him for a while). If he had anything to do with Sly's death, Sly has been avenged and Kaless is safe from the Tom now (wish I had got him before Sly was un-well). Don't like killing cats, but I find wild Toms a right pain.
Kaless has been good (does not seem to miss Sly).

I had had it on the old Laptop, but was missing it on this PC. I thought it was really cool of her to send me that after telling her Sly had died.
