Ok - I know that this topic has sort of been covered before, but a search has failed to provide me with a definitive answer. So maybe some highway patrol KB'ers may be able to enlighten me.

A neighbour has told me, an H.P cop himself, that he's been told that K band radar's are being phased out and that Ka band and laser will become the norm in NZ before too long.

I've travelled all over the south island on my bike and my radar has never picked up a genuine K band radar signal, only proximity and movement detectors and such like. So, do the cops still use K band at all now? Is it really being phased out? If so, how far before K band radar detectors become obsolete?

My main riding partners have a K2 GSX-R1000 and a Hayabusa and it's nice to have them along to do the menial tasks like buying smoko, cleaning my boots and so on. :killingme
