Just got this bike yesterday, and already I have some ideas to personalize it !!
Has anyone added a small screen to their Hornet ? I am just after some ideas for a smallish screen that takes a bit of wind pressure off, but without looking out of place on the bike.
I would also like to look at some new handlebars that are a bit higher and pulled back a bit, so they are a little closer to the rider.
What does an Ohlins rear shock cost installed ? Any one using one ?
And lastly ... some suggestions for some new cans ? ... any sound files welcome!
Cheers,
Grant

I removed the screen zapf put on the bike (quite a tall one) as I preferred to have the wind pressure vs the buffeting the screen was giving me. You either had to be crouched behind it like a monkey or get buffeted.
Disadvantage is 2 odd hours of continuous motorway work, and your neck will be just a *tad* stiff

Renthal street high bars (I use street low but had a pair of street high).
Use the Honda screen. or a Buell one. the Honda oneis smoke tint. Looks orright.
If you do nothing else, do the Ohlins shock. If you do that, spend the money and send the forks off for a rebuild too. Its completely transformed mine: the best money I have ever spent on motorbiking upgrades. Ever.

I guess it depends on the size of the screen, how tall you are, your helmet, .... I have ridden naked bikes with and without a screen, and am keen to try a small screen on this particular bike. Some people I have spoken to who ride this bike recommend them, .... so I guess I'll find out as I have ordered the stock Honda item.

Thanks for that input. I'll check out the Renthals sometime. I have ordered the stock Honda small screen.
It seems that everyone who has installed an Ohlins shock is very pleased with them. However, at around $1800, I'll have to wait awhile before spending that amount, as I have already ordered a headlight protector, Oggy knobs, Honda screen, and am looking to go down to Tauranga to get a "Rider seat" from Mac. Thats about $1500 in total, so that will do for the initial modifications!
At some stage I will do the cans, and replace them with Micron's or similar.

Are you saying you can debaffle your original pipes .... and still get a WOF, or do you need to put them back in for the WOF ?
Do you get a performance boost from removing the baffles ?
How loud is it without the baffles ? I'd like to be able to ride around without drawing tooooo much attention to myself .... especially from the Police !! :shit:
Cheers.

Awesome !!!!!!! I am doing a few things at the moment .... Oggy knobs, Honda small screen, Headlight protector, and am organising to go down and see Mac at MacDonalds Motor Trimmers and get a Rider Seat !! I love those seats!!! My last two bikes have had them, and probably any future bikes will also get them.
The cans will have to wait. Those Cycleworks cans look great. Any Ohlins and suspension mods will have to wait as well.
I think I'll get a tank protector decal to help protect it from buckle rash .. or anything else !!!
Cheers,
Grant.

late reply :)
Not too loud at all ...
The bike shops are tightening up on after market exhausts, so if they look standard, and don't make too much more noise (like mine) you're ok
Performance .. .erk maybe a little free revving than standard .. not sure, haven't ridden one with a standard pipe :)

I didn't know the bike shops were tightening up so much as the MOT / testing stations ?
However ... I've solved my issue with pipes. The Microns do nicely! (See my profile pic).
