Bike Bandit thieves

Man im angry, been waiting on parts forever. I have been dealing with bike bandit a while, brought a few bits off them in the past and Im used to them charging shipping charges that can only be described as a rip off. But boy this time they took the cake.

Ordered 2 parts, a pulse rotor and a pulse pick up. Pulse rotor is a wheel less than twice the size of a 50c piece but lighter. The generator is a little bigger but lighter. rotor $13 US dollars Generator $57 US dollars.

So shipping came to $80 for the two, ouch. these are small light bits but I figured what the hell as long as I got both bits.

They send me only the rotor and charge me $80 and then cancel the order for the generator as its on back order.

If they could have told be before sending me the one cheap part and pay the shipping cost for both and that I wouldnt be getting both I wouldnt have gone through with it.

Ive got that "I havent ridden my bike in so long theres a hole in my life" blues.

Hmm that is spensive. I always ask for a shipping price first and stipulate they use USPS (postal service) as opposed to UPS or similar. Got a set of ducati forks sent out for $130 US. Landed here including shipping the forks were still $350 dollars cheaper than a set from dunedin......

I don't think you should pay shipping for the back orderd part!

Check first, I get stuff from the US (for other things) and never paid shipping like that. Sounds like profiterring to me!! :Oi:

Shipping profiteering on ebay is common. I've ordered parts before and found then they arrive that the shipping cost I've paid is twice what it actually cost.

I dont think i could justify adding $45USD to the cost of shipping on an exaust, especially when the packaging is a cardboard box and some polystyrene, the only other thing that needed to be done was fill out a customs docket saying what the package was and how much it was worth. But apparently that's worth $45 on top of the $25USD it actually cost to ship the item. I figured it wasn't worth complaining as it arrived within 7 days, and was still 50% cheaper overall than buying the same item in NZ.

standard process for any company is to send what they have regarless of the value of them item, anything unavailable is backordered. so why you are crying over a standard way business is done i don't quite know, from whati have read on many forums around the world bike bandit have been very veyr good, so calling them out as thieves is hardly fair cop given the circumstances.

If this is a big stressful worry for you, can we swap lives? suck it up.

I have a Penske rear shock, racetech gold valves and springs on order from the USA. Packing and airfreight via US Postal Service is US$80 which I thought was ok for a package of that weight.

They have a fancy website but that's where their merits end. Got totally ripped off by them and when I emailed them it was like I was talking to a 5 year old. They are a complete scam.

i had a barrel (yz125) and a large bike cover sent down from the states last month only cost me $70 NZD box was bout 350mm square man you got ripped off. Shame they sent it out to you. last time red barron tried that on me i went to pay they wanted $90 for a bearing comon as 6305 vspec never told me it had been super seeded to the 6305 i walked left it on the counter not going to pay that for a bearing i got down the road for less that $15.

If you compare to NZ costs of posting something of that size to the US for $3standard post, or $10 registered post. Cheapest rate for tracked shipping (registered isn't) would be say $30.

Have you surfed for anywhere you could order directly from the States and enquired about shipping?

Shipping in the states has jumped quite a lot in the last 3 months. Stick the details in UPS' website and see what it quotes. USPS is far far cheaper, but generally the overseas shippers will only use UPS.

I guess you have to way up the benefit of saving money, and yes thats easily justifiable. But hell when they try and charge a rediculas cost like that, thats just plain rude! <_<

It was a no-brainer! The saving I made through a group purchase through the US Blackbird website was ~NZ$500 less including postage than buying here. I'm all for supporting local enterprises but not to that extent!

It sounds like they're using an expedited carrier (FedEx, UPS, DHL) rather than a postal carrier.

If this is the case, then be aware that the $80 shipping fee will also include a NZ customs clearance, biosecurity, and documentation fees (which will be in the region of $25 NZD).

exactly, you want cheap shipping its $38US (up recently from $36) for flat rate international for a box up to 20lb, takes 6-10 days to get here, and is untracked and uninsured. To the best of my knowledge, bikebandit ships fedex only for international, and the $80 seems like a fixed price as it was that when i priced up a piston and couple of wee bits, and the same for several bigger tools.

Re the backorder, ask them, they've got an online contact thingy where you message a person on the other end
