Hey wife car was hit from behind yesterday, and in turn in to the rear of a ute, out car looks like it be a write off, and its was person who hit my wife's car fault.
car is with ami
there insurance credit union aka Tower
We only have thrid party,
Ring ami cause thrid party we have to ring tower
ring tower they say get person who crashed car to lodge a claim.
Is this correct, i would think you would lodge a claim with ami, and they would deal with or, or at least tower, since the car is most likley a write off, we want it sorted it out asap, so we can get another one.
Anyone tell me if my thinking is wrong
Cheers

Nup. Call Tower back and yell at them. Give them the car rego and name of the person who hit you, and tell them to sort it out.
Insurance call-center staff are the lowest of the low and the stupidest of the stupid. Don't let them screw you around.

I had to fill out a 3rd party/No Insurance claim form with the insurance company of the lady that hit me, and finally after 6 weeks I got paid out. But I agree with JR you need to keep hassling them or they never get round to it.

Exactly. They are trying to get you to do their work for them. You are paying them to sort it out, make them do it.
Also, it should be AMI who are handling this, they are the customer contact, who they deal with after that to get money is entirely up to them

yeah ami only will do something if was your at fault, was rear ended last year am with AMI and they did fuck all and I had to deal with the other parties insurance to get my money.
Personally i think this is beyond average service as you are paying for the insurance, albeit only third party, you think they could deal with the insurance company as they do this every day!

Just to clarify, guys, because Cajun has only third-party cover with AMI, and he's not at fault, AMI aren't concerned with this deal.
Tower, being the insurers who cover the at-fault party liable for Cajun's losses, ARE.
And Cajun has to chase Tower himself to get cash out of them. It will probably take a while and it will not be pleasant.
*This*, in fact, is the real reason why fully comp insurance is good. Because then, regardless of whose fault an incident is, you get the full might of an insurance company working to further your interests.

well.. to their best interests too.
The insurance company doesn't want to pay out of their own pocket so will pay you out and then go chasing the money from the other person/s and their company.
But yes, they do the hard yards for you. :devil2:
Best of luck there!

In addition to what JRandom wrote.
Credit Union/Tower cannot do anything until their client lodges a claim. Once a claim is lodged by the other party Cajun's claim for damages can be added onto it.(otherwise anyone could ring up and say xyz damaged my car, pay me money)
Aside from you, does the other damaged party(the ute) have any luck with contacting the person? How do they feel about what happened and who is at fault? Due to lack of comunication have you thought about informing the Police of the incident? That way you have a formal record of what happened from your point of veiw. Would be good if the ute driver was there and other witnesses.
Hope it works out for you and that Mrs Cajun wasn't hurt.

Yeah, sure. If you've got 3 months to wait for your money while they sit around with their thumbs up their collective arses!!! I still haven't figured out why insurance companies haven't made it into the modern era yet. I mean, it's bloody difficult even getting them to pick up the phone, let alone e-mail, faxes, etc! Everything has to be done by snail mail & it takes for-bloody-ever.

i think the back car pays for damages to his/your wifes car your company pays for damages to the car in front of your wife.
i think the back car and your wife are both at fault by law(i think).
man good luck with sorting it out quickly as satisfactorily, get right up them buddy & don't ease up till it's sorted...

750y - was car at back fault, my wife was stoped when she was hit, way i know it rear car pays for all damages, cause all cars were at a stop apart from rear which hit
Wonko - other party as full insurance and are going thru there company, the rear car is at fault he said it was his fault on the scene. The police did arrive, since ever other car could be driven away, they were gone by time police got there, but she has contact details of them all.
Wife has contact details for everone involved in crash.
We went and did a bit of a drive by the guys house yesterday just to set the wifes mind at ease, to make sure we could see the car at address given, which we good. He finally got hold of her this morning, and they are putting a claim in with there insurer today. Hopeful get the ball rolling. Already got a couple of quotes made out to repair the car(good working in area with 3 panelbeaters around), just so there are quotes already, pretty so saves that sorta hassel
Slim - yeah it took them 10 mins to anwser the phone at tower, and then in turn was hold for another 10 mins, but once she got hold of supervisor at Tower she got a good bit of info.
Cheers for the help guys and girls

once you start ringing them and asking them if they want receipts for taxi rides so they can pay you for the time without a bike they can start moving pretty fast.
