Have a look on trade me for JE top end kit. Piston, rings, pins, clips and full top end gasket set for about 350$. Forged pistons, better than stock, ups the compression ratio.

There are 3 different stages of kit you can look at. To get them installed by a mechanic will probably be in the order of 300 - 400 labour. This can vary, its a fairly straightforward job for those in the know, so get a few quotes.

I found that I could get new onces from Spectrum or other dealers for the same price as Trade Me and it was easier.

Far out those pistons are gettin short. Just a disc with ring grooves. They look bloody fragile don't they!

Yeah, I nearly shit myself when I got the 450's one out of the box... Just a lid attached to the conrod ... ha. Have had no problems with the JE piston kit .. I reckon their 'grouse'.. nice forged ones..

I dunno if this applies to 4 strokes but we always make sure the bike is warmed up before riding when you have a forged piston in. And that doesn't mean two revs and thrash it, it means warm!! Just thought I'd mention it??
