Sorry to hear that mate. Here's hoping all's well again soon with the minimum possible outlay of cash.
I must say - what the ferk is up with some of the roads in this country (here he goes, whinging pom again), the number of corners I''ve taken at slow speeds on well used roads only to find loads of gravel causing back end twitches (rider and bike) is ridiculous.
(and here comes the punchline).
Back in the UK (told you) you could sue the local council for failing to keep the roads in a worthy state of repair etc etc blah blah blah

seems to be the way at the moment... melting tar or shit loads of gravel.
...not to mention the  roadworks!
on my way from Tahuna to Ohiniwai this morning, went past a "warning, road works" sign, smashed to pieces on side of road, preceded by 2 heavy skid marks...
someone needs a good kneecaping! (oops sorry).
Hope you heal fast and are back on the bike soon.

No disrespect to John and yes I have dropped my bike in the passed but we all have to ride to the conditions. Always expect the shingle and stones. We need to take more responsibility for our riding and wellbeing. I even see a complaint about the road works in this thread. They are trying to get the road surface, we complain about, up to a better standard.
I mean seriously :msn-wink: you can have holes or lumps with or with out stones and shingle. I am sure they do their best.

Did someone call me? - I thought I heard someone canned on gravel and are trying to lay the blame on someone else. It's not the roads fault - it's the style of bike you ride and your riding and awareness skills ...I get sick of repeating this, but hey...anything for a good screaming match. The last one went on for pages and pages and pages..... :bleh:

With a bit of luck the damage won't look as extensive in the cold hard light of day.

Sorry to hear about ya misfortune...Insurance pick up the tab of repairing?
John
28th January 2005, 17:55
hey all,
managed to get out of bed now, I sent my bike into get the insurance sorted, but they cant do it till monday, I'm just worried that the damage will be under 1200$ which is my excess :shit: ...
So sadly becuase this will most probably be the way, I am buying a pushbike on monday - and will probably haveto sell the bike and try find something cheaper :( unless I can find the parts needed cheap, as it is actually utterly busted up.
On another note, I dont blame anyone for the crash, and never will shit happens and happens alot to unlucky people like me :(.
On the kneecap issue, it was a quarter of the way up my thigh, I dont know how I managed it but yea, I rode the bike back to which I'm proud of personally with only 2nd, and a lot of bent stuff :S.
Thanks goes to the nice fellow in the ford explorer who was first to help me, and a bigger thanks goes to the two kids one on a 125dirt (who was telling me about his 3 bins that day) and the dude on the utterly bitching little scoot. and also to the nice fellow who came down after I took photos for the insurance what a great guy gave me some advice and stuff also offered a ride on the trailor.
so in conclusion. sadly this time the bike seems to be alittle bit beyound my repair without the insurance payout which I pray to god will happen, even better if they wrote it off because it will take a long time to get the parts in that are broken :(.
thanks all for the support. :ride:

heh thanks, once I get it back I'll rip it apart, I suspect some gearbox damage and some others, I HOPE the frame is ok, it wasnt riding how it normally does on the way back, but we will see thanks for the offer, I might hold you up to it

20kmh??? Gearbox and frame will be sweet....

20kmh??? Gearbox and frame will be sweet....
yea but there were a few variables in that, such as when it was sliding and bouncing it was stopped by the 'gear shift' (or whatever you call it) and it was bent upwards over the pedal, and when I was in i dont know what gear it had no stick like it was stripped, so I really dont Know, and the frame is interesting to because it managed to hit the main wooden pole before braking through the others while hanging notoriously above the drain. I still can get over the damage for such a low speed, its like it was run into a brick wall :S
oh well, thanks - we will see on tuesday :disapint:

when you call the insurance company say this
"I would like to report a claim without prejudice. the estimate for the damage is $????. can you please tell me the total cost of the claim."
If you do this then they will sart noting the claim but your no claims bonus will not be affected until you ask them to pay out (sometimes they modify your bonus on a pending claim). they will tell you the actual cost of the claim including the additional premuims incurred by the loss of no claims bonus.
