Well im getting a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R within the next couple of weeks.
It is finally time to rid myself of my shite little scooter.
This may also lead to the loss of my skin so im looking for some gear :niceone:
Nelson lacks good stores to buy this sort of stuff so im wondering if someone could point me in the right direction in terms of online retailers/trademe.
I would love a leather Kawasaki jacket to go with the bike but this is not a must. Can anybody tell me the good value for money price point when looking for a jacket.
I already have gloves/helmet - pants come next. A jacket is my priority at the moment.
Thanks guys :p

Quasimoto will be able to help...
Don't buy off trade me if you want good gear....sizing and quality are the big issues
Maybe a trip to ChCh Budget Motorcycle Spares could do too.
Good luck

Stuff matching the branding of the jacket to your bike. Who knows what you'll own next and it won't be long before 250cc ain't enough.
Quasi's stuff is great. Looking at $600 for one of his current leather jackets but he's often got end of line or seconds on special that might suit you.
http://www.quasimoto.co.nz or PM Quasievil/QUASiMOTO.
Motomail have a pretty good range of leather and non-leather stuff too. www.motomail.co.nz
Suggest going cheapish until you work out what you want and need (unless you've got the cash to spare).
Get some decent boots too.

All weather jackets with zip out linings work brilliantly!I have a DriRider Aspen that has padding on the forearms, shoulders and down the spine.Great to be able to zip out the lining or put it back in depending on weather conditions and are very well priced,I got mine from Budget Spares in Chch for a little less than 2 hundy!

Wow $600, i guess my skin is worth more to me.
A few years ago, the cost of skin grafts was around US$1000 per square inch. Of course, it's prolly cheaper here, with a public health system.
Of course (2), given the public health system, they probably don't bother grafting skin.
Buy the best gear you can afford. You can upgrade it later, and will probably have to unless it's leather, as it doesn't last for ever. In fact, if you're commuting every day, you're looking at replacing stuff like gloves, boots and helmet every 3-4 years anyway.

If you're going to buy jeans, get the draggin jeans.. not really cheap, but cheaper than leathers

Actually some of the stuff on Trademe is pretty good. Lincra are selling some nice stuff.Good price and good quality.Check them out before you open your mouth and tell people not to buy off Trademe.

I've just purchased cordura jacket & pants from cycletreads and gloves from motomail.
I'll be looking at getting some quasimoto leathers next year probably (unless someone there cuts me a deal soon, hint hint).

Thanks for the replies guys.
I'm assuming that jeans are a better option than shorts if i come off, i will be grabbing some decent pants soon.
Yea my dad said that the Ninja at Filco's (the one I'm buying) is 2009. Maybe he got mixed up.
Thanks again:niceone:
