Knowing Spankme's insistance that posts don't get deleted is it not more likely that it has all just been moved?

All I say is having all the threads with a common theme of Manawatu in same forum was easy to find, you knew where the rides were, crap etc.Now we have rides under events, crap under another forum.

I think I voted to keep it all together, maybe ride seperate, and just for rides would be ok.

Eventually the non used threads would disolve after unuse and the important threads would always be at the top of the forum,or am I wrong(again)with this.

Erm, I think it's fairly easy to talk crap without talking crap, if you follow me?

If not: as I see it, this forum is to talk about motorcycling, as it pertains to KBers in the Manawatu. One particular subset of that wide range of topics, planned rides, goes in another forum. I don't really think that eliminates all possible topics of conversation.

I've tried to illustrate that by example with the two threads I've started in the last fornight. The first, about buying a new bike, I figured was primarily of interest to the locals, so I posted it here. Plus I'd planned to deliberately be a bit of a tease prior to the BBQ. Mission accomplished.

The 2nd, about the chain et al, I could have posted in other places. I figured I'd post it here to start with because I was looking for local knowledge (along the lines of "hey horse I've seen good heavy-looking cheap chain at XXX on Blah St". Instead I got an even better offer from another local - thanks Bonez.

Now, when it comes to ride threads, if I start one I'm going to post about it in both forums with links in both directions, and I'm going to encourage the discussion to take place at this end. Not all of it will - BFD!

But at the end of the day, you can't fight the mods. You can try, but you'll always lose.

Not a shit show!
We have one thread...talk about all sorts in there. We don't need/want separate threads. We "moderate" ourselves...and we behave!
Would be a brave mod who would dare to moderate us...although they are welcome to pop in, shoot the breeze, have a cuppa or a cold one with us and many of them do!
Some of them even join us for a ride occasionally!

Another conspiracy theory? If you want to complain about me or any other Moderator in terms of our behaviours as Moderators, then take that up with Messrs Me and Trousers (those red dudes).

Otherwise, let it go. It will only make you bitter and twisted.

There is another forum that is very much like yours - the Auckland Uni Club.

As a Club Forum (as opposed to a Group Forum), there are minor differences in the way it is run, but it is essentially the same. They even have they own in-house moderator (Squiggles) - just like you guys. Go and check it out.

It is their own space on the site, and it is well utilised. Sure, they talk shit in there sometimes - just like all of us. But generally, they just get on with it. The Moderators have very little to do in there, which suits us just fine.

They organise rides, talk about their bikes, arrange social gatherings, bitch about parking problems at the Uni, etc etc. All good stuff. For a bunch of Uni students, they are fucking great.

What don't they do? Well, they don't run around like headless chickens, trying to decide "what the forum is for". They don't post dozens of unbelievably childish "I can post more crap than you can" type threads, in the mistaken belief that it somehow funny or clever - or indeed permitted under the site rules. They don't indulge in petty little power struggles, and divide themselves into pro and anti factions - "If you're not with us, you must be against us..." They don't ostracise some locals, in the mistaken belief that they are somehow behind all the local problems.

Despite the teething problems, there's some good stuff starting to happen in this forum. I hope it continues.

Too many Bs my friend. The statement needed to be in the form of a lyrical adventure, not a tongue twister.
You could have saved yourself a lot of typing by simply saying" You think my Behemoth should be shot? I carry a passenger to provide an alibi for lacklustre agility and I feel tired and beaten"

And on that note I bid you a good night and sweet dreams sir. I'm off to slap myself for not thinking of a career in childrens literature and then get some much needed sleep as I dream up tomorrows exciting adventures with our beloved heroine as she betrays her trusted steed with a mind preoccupied with his replacement thoroughbred...

yes it is.

I would like to comment on the whole EMU thing and percieved abuse between myself and chanceyy.

Just did 2 day manfield with chanceyy (which was pretty busy, feel a report coming on) and had a discussion on how the MRF was getting out of hand lately from her percieving I am abusing her over me percieving her abusing me.

It has been sorted so now we can get back to talking more general crap and put it down to lost in translation.

Pleased to see the ass end of this one.

Amen to that :D .. Waits for the manfield report .. busy few days for sure ..

I like the way it's going. It's cute that Cowboyz now getting on with Chanceyys horse (sorry didn't mean you horse).

I have been waiting all day for my son to come home, he lives away, asked to come home for holidays, confirmed he was coming to ours today on Tuesday. Did not respond to any texts today on either of his phones, I could not ring him (he was out of coverage area) He finally rings at 6pm to say he is not coming...

Got to love them mate, they grow up soooo fast!

Wait till he gets to 18 and says dad come out and I'll beat ya at pool with his mates, you go out only to pay for most of the drinks, after drinking for 5 hours at a bar, then they say lets go to xxx bar down the street, they have had $2 stubbies all night,go take them home via maccas. And get into bed about 4.00am.

Don't they just communicate so well. The strange thing is I worry more about our kids when they are home than when they are away. e.g why aren't they home yet?

Our 19 year old moved out on her own and we hear from her maybe once a week (the self employed designer). Our 16 year old went to Vietnam for 20 days and they went out at night but we had stopped worrying once she got on the plane. My 22 year old son I still worry about. Strange.

Sorry I missed you when you were down here. Good write up. We could all visit your son?

Tell them next time to be more prepared. They could have used their hair dryers and hair staighteners for the BBQ.:done:

Well Manfeild was fun, the weather great and I found a kwaka next to the Onsite Leathers Repair Station (god bless that man, returning dignity to the exposed backsides of highsided road warriors everywhere) with what I'm guessing is a certain cowboyz plate. Think I get the forum name now. You might want to think about getting the bike washed if thats your ZX9R with the half ton bag on the back.

Stood next to it at lunch but no body came over. We thought about moving it and leaving a note saying "the ninjas took it and nobody saw" but don't know you to get away with that!

One of my girlfriends mates Kiwispan CRF expired spectacularly on the opening lap of his first race - not so good a day for him.

I must say - i was quite disappointed.

Went to work today and did a hard days work (read, went and hid from all the work cause I was knackered and couldnt be fucked) and when I got back to my bike this arvo to come home it was just as dirty as I left it.

Dani-D doesnt do a very good job cleaning, It doesnt look like she even touched it.

Some girls are all talk.

Never mind it's meant to rain tomorrow so that'll get it gleaming, clean green. Being an Ashhurstonian you should have left it on the green.

What's the comic you're reading?

Yee haa! Scooter boy to Weekend Rider in 3 days. Now where's that rides post gone.

I was feeling a bit pissed at Freedom Suzuki and was thinking of taking service elsewhere, but got a nice phone call from Barry Higgison.

So anyway, I took the Kat in last Thursday avo with the insurance card and printed docs of the body parts, part numbers etc. I parked the bike outside the workshop got directed to service manager and told him out the claim etc. I felt like I was being given the brush off, and he wouldn't come out of the office to look at the bike. I asked him to ring me the day before the assessor was coming and I would bring the bike in but heard nothing back so rang AMI this morning.

AMI have now arranged for assessor to go in Friday, (could have been tomorrow). I rang Freedom and told the nice lady what was happening and Barry gave me a ring back. Seems things are just a tad hectic, (overwhelmed?) at the mo. Good customer service Barry, great for business. :soon:

You could also try City Honda - Steven the sales manager is ex Phils and a good guy. He used to do all the insurance quotes for State (yep, been there, done that).
