I don't like it. What the hell were they thinking? They make fantastic cars but I guess they should have stayed doing what they were best at...

Someone said... GUMBY????

o7Ixe95CZOE

ok - back on topic. I hear the RF was designed by a dude (or the dude was inspired by) the Ferrari hence the colouring and shape of the grills etc.

As for the pic... ummm - yeah. "Round" is a word that comes to mind

I don't think it looks TOO bad, I mean, sure, it's different, but that doesn't make it ugly. The only issue I have with it is that if it's going to be a sports bike it'll really need some wind protection for the rider - in its current state it looks very aerodynamic by itself, but plonk a rider on it and you're gonna get problems.

Looking at that picture I gotta wonder - is that a character from a new upcoming Pixar movie? Cause I really like Pixar movies!

nah man, it's fucken ugly as sin, it reminds me of an "ugliest bikes youv'e ever seen" thread on here. I'd put that in there, I can't even see potential to get used to it then eventually like it. It's an offspring of a brother and sister. It should have been aborted right from the blue prints......

I'd rather have this one (http://www.luxist.com/2006/04/27/the-ferrari-motorcycle/)

Why do people care about 3d renderings? Its not as if they are actually going to build it to look like that, none of the renderings ever look like the final product, if it is infact a product the red horse are going to make.

Where's one of those "FAIL!" motivational poster templates when you need one

Who cares about the looks. That bike is a two wheeled car. Not one part of the design takes into account motorcycle dynamics.

Can't see Ferrari putting their badge on that unless they're strapped for cash

26th September 2008, 11:41
I'm interested in that bike that supposedly inspired this horrible object; the 1953 one with the weird handlebars and rear suspension. Can't find any information about it though, just a few links that say Alredo/Dino used to pootle around in motorcycle racing in the 1950s and Ferrari heavily modified a few bikes to suit him.

I think they stuffed up. Man somebodie's gotta have farking small feet to change gear on this, look at how small the gear lever is (last pic at the bottom).

I reckon it looks great. They're yellow would look better tho.

Interesting that the motor is aft. Everyone else seems targeted on as much weight as possible on the front wheel

The bodywork looks too slippery.

I'd be worried about giving it a handful of throttle and sliding off the back.

What is it about Ferrari that makes people so eager to build fugly bikes?

I can clearly see a red kermit the frog holding the front wheel with his hands and his legs in the air behind him.

goes to show that "product designers" show not make motorbikes.

KTM's current sharp and aggressive style language was created by Kiska (product design). Yamaha have had their motorbikes designed by product designers since the 60's to this day designed by GK design group.

Check out this new group of product designers that are designing interesting bikes for real clients http://www.motorepublic.com/#

Indeed. In their defence, the person or persons responsible had done a great job of this -- including the interior. They should have painted it red.

GPS touch screen.......WTF

right, so you can take you hands (which are holding your weight) and operate the touch screen with your gloves on as the thing bounces around?

aerodynamics that neglect the effect of the rider

seat that won't hold you in place when you crack the throttle or grab a handful of brakes

and retarded controls...

now i've seen arguably less practical concepts, but atleast they looked good.

only thing they got right was the V4

Why bother? t..... Next thing will be a Ducati car.....

actually, KTM made a car - it uses an audi engine that audi won't put their badge on as there's not airbags (lol) - that is proving immesely popular in the "rich 40year man looking to blast orund trackdays in his porche" bracket due to it having the performance of a bike. carbon fibre monocoque chassis with a few dashes of ktm orange bodywork. 5 point harnesses, no roof, no doors, and semi open wheels.

weighs 790kg and does 0-100 in 2.5 seconds - all without abs or traction control; the way a car should be

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK91FE69Mhs&feature=related
<object width="480" height="295"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TK91FE69Mhs&hl=en&fs=1"> </param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> </param> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always">< /param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TK91FE69Mhs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"> </embed></object>

basically motorcycle engineering taken to a car, and naturally it mops up while still being reasonably priced - even cheap when you consider all teh carbon in there!
