Does anyone know what these 'box's' are. They look like speed camera's but with clean facias and are mounted on power poles. Currently seen one coming out of strathmore/seatun tunnel, one Happy Valley road just exiting 50k limit, one along Island Bay esplanade.
Cheers.

Well, that's what the ones around Dorkland are, they tend to be near schools and other "vulnerable" areas.

Yeah... if it's a speed monitor that's not very interesting.. they only go up to to 10k's over the limit then just say 'SLOW DOWN'.
The one of the SH2 road works tell you your speed whatever you're doing..
Starting a up a high score talley next time I go down.

They have a couple on Mt Albert road that go 49, 50, slow down. My thought is always "Fuck you, I'm only doing about 55".

The peasant's do not have enough to put "speed monitoring devices" into all of the locations that they desire... SO... there are one or two machines that will be moved around to different mounting locations. You have seen one of them.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get a "SLOW - NOW!!!" reading.:lol::cool:

That is exactly what they will be. (No camera) Trailer mounted ones are around but these will be near schools etc. ...

That's a psycho-analytical behaviour and retina scan transducer (PABRST). It's sole purpose in life is to draw in weak minded people wearing standard approved safety helmets and leather gloves and once they are within striking distance they zap you with brain washing rays that cause you to point in the general direction of the PABRST until another person who is also under the influences of the device comes along with a digital camera and snaps your picture. Subsequently these newly acquired pictures are uploaded via a secure mensa-psycho-data link to any internet site that is likely to or at least partly cable of generating hysteria and mass panic.

They are fkn useless devices...I mean, when it says "slow down" and my speedo is reading higher than the posted limit, then how am I supposed to know what my speedo error is?

The thing now grown numbers. At least I know my speedo is 10% over.
Oh by the way. If it was your Honda tt classic mysteriously damaged this monday's gales outside Seatoun tunnel. I righted it after seeing the poor thing blown over. Didn't have the means to leave a note and a trifle worried leaving my bike parked up so left in haste.

"The thing now grown numbers. At least I know my speedo is 10% over."
Beware the false sense of security these devices are designed to give.
Just when you think "She's right I got 10% margin..." :Police: :spanking:

Oh that's a relief then, I thought you were going to say it beams you to Transylvania where you end up doing the Time Warp. You had me worried there for a moment.....

Upon closer inspection (more and more of these ruddy things appearing all over the place) I would like to counter your description of them being 'cream coloured' for 'hearing aide beige' instead :innocent:

LOL - I sometimes see the ones on Mt Albert road say slow down (I'm probably doing 51-54kph at the time) and I feel tempted to give the sign the finger. But then I take a breath and tell myself that it is just an electronic sign. The obvious question is: Do I need a sign telling me to slow down when riding at 52kph in a 50k zone?

Especially once it is sighted in,the circles make good targets from 100mts with a .17 HMR.

the old .17 is sposed to be pretty accurate, was toying with the idea of getting a 22/250 for a while but it would probably just sit in the cupboard with the rest of them
