The CatWalk Trust has been given the opportunity to import and promote a Martin Conquest motorcylce from the UK. The Conquest is a 3 wheeler motorcyle designed for users in wheelchairs. It is doing a national tour, Auckland to Southland, late October and early November. I would like to see how many kiwiriders are keen to join the various legs of tour.

Please post any information on recommended cafe/pit stops along the way.

This leg of the tour is from Invercargill to Dunedin on Tuesday 11th November. Assembly at Bella Vista Motel at 8:30am.

- Depart Bella Vista at 9am, arriving at Peggydale, Balclutha at 12pm.

- Depart Peggydale at 1:30pm, arriving at The Octagon, Dunedin at 4pm.

I believe this is the final leg of the tour. The Martin Conquest will head back to Christchurch tonight. It will be auctioned off at a charity fundraiser at Wigram Air Force Museum on Thursday 13th November.

If you want a more interesting ride then come up the coast road via the Catlins - if you have engagements on the way in Gore or something then this may not be possible.
There are two very good cafe's on the main street in the middle of Balclutha - "The Gate Cafe" and another one directly opposite whose name I can't recall. The bike would create and attract a lot more attention parked here than at Peggydale which is off the road and a bit out of town.
If interested I might be able to help get some road cones put in place to reserve a carpark at the right spot.
The ride through to Dunedin won't take any more than 1.25hrs unless you have planned stops so you have allowed plenty of time for that.

I have marked it in my diary so should be able to join you in Balclutha

Yeah, I thought that "subscribing" to a thread meant I got an email every time someone posted. Never mind. The tour is in a couple of weeks, so I'll be bumping the threads closer to the days.

Thanks Ruralman - I'll pass the suggested cafe stops on to Kim at Catwalk. I see we have 3 hours allocated to Invercargill to Balclutha, so it might be a nice diversion. Whats the quality of the road like (I come from the Wellington region where the roads are absolute sh***t)

The Sothern Scenic Route, (from Invercargill to Balclutha,) is generally pretty good, with some good twisties. The only thing to watch for is some gravel thrown up from the verges.

Travel time would be about two and a half hours with the odd stop.

we meet up w the guys in timaru. Totally abismal turnout. About three bikes and :woohoo:no media. Mate and I escorted the guys to Oamaru. Got to Glenavy to be meet by abouot thirty bikes from Oamaru. Great to see. Went onto Oamaru and hit the streets with fundraising buckets to drum up support. It was a great afternoon. Eceptionally nice piece of kit.
