View Full Version : Hunters Group

Is anyone interested in forming a loose 'hunters-group'. Loose meaning, not morals or attitude, but some sort of connective group whom, two-by-two or three might wish to bike to a good hunting spot.

Such spots might include Clements Mill, South Taupo, Woodhill forest (all for deer). Or Tauhoe for goats and pigs...Boy but do I need someone with a pig-dog for Tauhoe. Private farm. Big pig in there. Never managed to even sight him, but he's there.

But I'm up for suggestions.

I would prefer to shoot with those using bolt or lever. I get dead nervous about semi-autos in the bush. But you might have a semi with Browning-type safety. And definitely nobody with 12G Sabos in a semi-auto shotgun. Single-shot I can cope with, but you have to scrape the mince of the ground.

And no AK look-a-likes.

I shoot a .357 lever. !st hammer-click is ultimate safety. Real good for 200m. And where i normally shoot 100M is about the top of the field of view.

I don't shoot for sport. I shoot to eat. In my book, you kill it, you carry it out.

Question 1: If one's pillion is a) dead. B) bereft of four forelegs. c) headless, does one need to provide such with a helmet?

Question 2. Is it legal to strap a dead and gutted but skin-on, ten-point to my carry-cage/pillion? And must I supply a helmet?

Question 3. If I carry said stag as a pillion can I get 'done' or scaring the cagers? Of course I would attach Warrior flags to his horns, but would that be enough?

Joking aside. He's out there, hunters. And I know where he likes to amble. Just haven't tagged him....yet.

And so, a loose biker/shooter club seems to have possibilities.

Perhaps you'd like to register your 'interest' by emailing me direct at dpex@xtra.co.nz.

and when the club forms and you tag we need photos of so called pillions as evidence the loose club has attained one pillion and is scarring cages

bugger the email head across to the firearm thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=42615&page=117

A wee bit of gun banter there, and we can delve into hunting as well, off after some reds and chamois in the south in a few days and I cant wait.

Might have to come see you again Chris for some practise before then :2guns:
