To cut a long story short, 4 months ago me and the miss decided to buy motogp tickets for phillip island before we moved to sydney
Type motogp tickets into google and the first site that comes up is moto.gptickets.com
Purchased 2 tickets at 181 euros each, got confirmation of our purchase yadda yadda, the website is a company located in the netherlands (europe) and apparently sell formula1 a1gp motogp etc tickets to all the rounds
Anyway, last week we became concerned that we had heard nothing about our tickets and started to try and get in touch with the company
Ringing, faxing, emailing the lot, finally today - we get a response which is this...

Dear Cameron Robinson, Regarding your order for the Moto Grand Prix of Australia at the circuit of Phillip Island, we kindly ask you to pay attention to the following: Unfortunately the tickets for the Luckey Height grandstand that you ordered through our website moto.gptickets.com are completely sold out at the circuit. As a result, we have to inform you that that we will not be able to provide you with these tickets. We are very sorry to have to bring you this very disappointing news and very much hope you will help us work something out. Please allow us to explain this unfortunate situation: As a ticket reseller we cooperate directly with most F1, A1, Champcar, MotoGP an SBK circuits. The procedure is that we can take options on a certain amounts of tickets for the various grandstands at the start of the season. Please understand that we depend entirely on the official promoters for our final allocation. Their promise is our guarantee for the supply of our customers with the tickets they reserve from us during the season. Despite our excellent relationship with the circuits we unfortunately can not guarantee that all our customers will receive the exact tickets they initially ordered. In some exceptional cases an unexpected sell out occurs. This may be as a result of the following: - the receipt of orders through our website coincides with the depletion of our stock for a certain grandstand- our option at the circuit is not fully granted, meaning that we will receive less tickets for a certain grandstand than we initially reserved When a situation like this occurs, there is unfortunately not much we can do. Right now we can only offer you a full refund. At the circuit tickets are still available for other grandstands, but as the race is in a week, we can not have other tickets delivered in time anymore. We recommend you to go to the circuit yourself and purchase your tickets over there. For further information, you can send us an email on info@moto.gptickets.com or call 0031 10 713 7800 (Monday-Friday 9.00-17.00CET) Kind regards, Moto.GPtickets.com

We bought the tickets 4 months ago - booked and paid for our campervan and campground and was all good, now 3 days from when we are due to leave we get this
Has anyone else ever dealt with this website and been successful ?
Our flatmates have offered us their credit card to buy tickets from ticketek which we will do but this has fucked us up so badly, what if we dont get the refund? we are about 700nzd down and the 2 tickets we are going to buy are 255 AUD each, also that email says they are tickets for lucky heights which is not what we ordered, we ordered and paid for siberia, we now have to buy tickets to southern loop because siberia is sold out, this is so fucked up. what would you do ?
Has anyone bought tickets from this website before ?

Hope you get your refund.I went on 2 GP tours, one in '91 to Phillip Island and one at Eastern Creek in '94 think it was,but both were booked as package deals through a reputable NZ tour operator. Can't say I'd ever book and pay online with a credit card to any company outside of NZ(scares the sheeet outta me!).Sorry about your situation mate and hope it gets sorted.Enjoy the trip and the racing at what is truely an outstanding circut.:niceone:

Thats nasty, mate. You can only ask for a refund. I hope you still go though, and try to get past it quickly, or it will badly taint your wicked-cool holiday. What a cool place to go - wish it were me.

Sorry to hear that you got shafted that just takes the edge off the whole thing. We went last year, bought through ticketek.au

Event: 2007 GMC Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix
Date: Fri 12 - Sun 14 Oct 2007
Venue: GMC Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix
Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit
Back Beach Road
Cowes VIC 3922
Area:
Section: SLUKEY-C
Row: L
Seats: 1-2
Price Category: lukey heights
Transaction number: 199-070621

lukey heights Subtotals:
2 X Adult Price @ $245.00 = $490.00
SubTotal: $490.00

Oz dollars of course. Those seats were the top row facing the southerly, man it was cold! We bought an extra jacket, two neck warmers, added another jersey, a ski hat as well and were nearly warm.

The amazing thing about Phillip Island is that you can walk around the whole circuit and see racing. So that's what we did on Friday and Saturday which were the two really cold days. It warmed up a bit for sunday which made our spot pretty damned good for The Races. I wouldn't bust a gut if you can't get stand tickets, there's really good viewing all around and even on race day when there's lots of people there, the circuit is so big that you're never more than 3 deep standing at the fence

Or you could go to the "alcohol free zone" and have it all to yourself :shifty:

It's not a bad place to watch either, the start of the big sweeper before the main straight.

Its the last thing you wanna hear just before heading over....I would take the issue to FAIR GO when you got back. At least they have some pushing power (and time) to chase these a***holes and may get your money back.

Sounds a bit like the Olympic Ticket debarkle. There goes the days when you could trust a ticketing outlet....

he/she/they sound genuine, I'd be surprised if you weren't refunded.

it's not surprising that they sold out, they aren't the only source of tickets so if a few major sources have a surge of ticket purchases then actual numbers could become inaccurate very quickly.

if it had been me I would've started questioning where my tickets were within a few days....

best of luck getting tickets though dude.

Yeah ya gotta still go, they've screwed up your plans don't let em screw your whole trip. Have a brilliant time and sort it when you come back.

My best guess is, you will see your refund, I've used Dutch sites before always with good results and I've yet to meet a Dutchman that doesn't speak superb English, so if you have a number, phone them and get a firm commitment on refund plans. Good luck and have a great time.

I bought my tickets to the Lukey Heights stand along with the campground tickets and apparently they'll be there waiting for me on Thursday. I certainly hope so!

But as others have said, there are lots of great viewing places around the circuit, so lack of grandstand tickets is not a complete disaster. And it sounds like these guys are genuine and will refund you.

definitely go, tell them you want the refund. If you paid by credit card you may have some redress through that avenue too.

Ooh, I had that when I went to Assen, in Holland coincidentally, it was a bit of a worry but I was whisked through the crowd to a special hut,, where all my tickets were waiting, right stand, paddock passes the works, brilliant. Hope your pick up goes as smoothly.

Have a great time ya lucky b'stards, maybe next year for me.

I fucking hope we get our refund, my question is, if we didnt hound them, when would they have told us ?
We finally got a reply 3 days out after hounding them for the best part of a week.
The reply we got came last night, I emailed them twice last night and have just got home from work to see no reply, hopefully just the time difference.
The credit card we used to buy the tickets no longer exists either, so I hope that they can refund it to my credit card or something

this is the site in question
http://moto.gptickets.com/index.asp
looks genuine enough, bastards probably ate to many hash biscuits and forgot about us
Anyway, flatmate bought grandstand tickets for southern loop today, pick them up tomorow from ticketek, until they are in my hands im going to be anxious. we have confirmed our campervan, have our campground tickets and just want to be at the race.
Had we not been able to get more tickets, I would have driven halfway across the biggest continent on earth, just to jump the fence at 5am each morning

at the 2008 venues, there is something called the VIP village where you get a private grandstand.. liquour.. pit walk etc, the website makes out like they are the ones who created it, if so there would be a company rep there.. I reckon Im owed a few cold ones..
would love to get fair go involved but Im in Sydney.. 2 days to go, im gonna smoke some grass while driving through the outback, go to the motogp, wake up to the sound of the crispest motorcycles on the planet, take some pingers, chuck on some sunnies, and drink some piss!

If it all goes tits up you can always stay home and watch it on the telly - at least you can watch replays (impossible while watching it live). Plus the following:
* No queues for the loos
* No Aussie wankers chundering all over you
* No grass stains on ya stubbies
* No bites from potentially dangerous poisonous Ocker Fauna

Sounds compelling eh? That's how I'll be watching Phillip Island - on the TV :weep:

Mate that sucks balls. Fair enuf this shit happens but they coulda come forward with it sooner.

Sounds like they're genuine and you'll get your cash back. However, if they fuck you around and you need someone to go knock on their door and insert a foot up their arse, I live in the netherlands and don't mind helping out where I can. Just let me know.

Sounds good 2much, will keep that in mind.. definately.
Have just received an email saying they will refund the amount to the credit card today or tomorow.. depending on the bank it will show up within 10 days.. - like I said, the credit card we paid for the tickets with no longer exists so I hope they can refund it to mine.
Due to pick up Campervan Noon tomorow.

Bass Strait stand, eh? Great view of the southern half of the track. Should be good. I'll give you a wave from Lukey Heights, if my tickets are where I expect them to be.
