i think you guys are being way to hard on them, the president put a very good explanation on their website,
300 bike races will always have problems, for the top riders to say they do not want the lower guys their is biting the hand that feeds, it is easily NZ's preimer off road race, and will be again next year

on the other hand though i paid my $100 entry fee, which cannot be argued is an expensive fee. i travelled 250km- not that far but a lot of people came from alot further away.
they knew there were 300+ bikes, why was there only 1 guy scruteneering?
they knew there were 300+ bikes, why was there only 2 people sorting out the numbers
why were riders allowed to cut HUGE sections of track out without being disqualified?
and then my race was cut short- mostly due to these previously mentioned cheaters. its the T100, its MEANT to be a challenge! . i cant go to a mx event and say "oh that dropoff is too big, ill just cut back to 20m before the finsh line'

yea, its a good ride thats for sure. without the drama its a brilliant day, with the dramas its only a good day.
with any luck all the things that went wrong this year wont happen again and all will be well.
the start line itself is amazing!

Maybe because you only paid $100 entry fee !!!!
If you want more official control of the event, then be prepared to pay for it.
Or perhaps you could join the club and offer do these jobs in your spare time like those that did.

$100 is a fairly steep entry fee for an event that offers very few prizes.
but im not in it for the prizes, im in it for a good days riding.
i allready volunteer a lot of my time to my local club organising events. im well aware that events cost money. but when you have $35,000 worth of entry fees, and then event sponsors on top of that, i think thats more than enough to have their shit together.

I have done it a few times now, for me it is a personal challenge against myself to see if I can better myself each year (I seem to be on the losing end).
I think there is definitely 2 sides to the story on this one. The fact is though, this was the 31st year and they had some issues. Not bad going in my books.....
It is pretty simple for those that seem to have issues with the format, don't go ... pretty simple really. I go to events I like and don't bother with ones I don't enjoy.
Funnily enough there was criticism from some riders about an international event that was hosted here for having a day cancelled. It was considered the best thing to do by the organisers. Those in the know can read between the lines on that one.

sounds good!! Im going with my mate and his dad, so hopefully 3 of us can get through! Is it clay like kimmys? I rode that in the pouring down rain, far that was hard work, fell off on every corner and downhill :pinch: just so slippery, and i had crap tires!! but i do miss engine braking in those conditions..

have you been there before?
3 people should be alright for bike rescue
and although i havent been to kimmies in the rain it is similar, only that thunder is paddocks with worn tracks so there is plenty of grass, wheras kimmies is all clay tracks so the base is the same at both places
i can honestly say dont even attempt the A loop, youll probaly be turning back or pushing the bikes yp the really big slippery rutted hills
but all to his own:bye:

this may be so, but the hillclimbs on the big track are big and rutted, given not particularly difficult in the dry, just give it more, but if its greasy or raining it is not fun and youll slide all the way down the hills again.
also if your tyres arnt brand new it gets interesting:woohoo:
maybe so barty but for noobs it is quite difficult:Oops: you dont need to show off
