Hi all,
As you know Jas was the rider that was bitten the most after the awesome racing weekend we had. We have visited Jas and he has had surgery to fix the right knee but is now playing the waiting game about the 3 serious breaks to the left leg....they are waiting for swelling etc to go down before any further decision is made. I spoke to Jas again tonight and he is in fantastic spirits and says bring on the visitors as he would love a chat and company. I have said to Jas any messages I'll print out and take them to him. Guys I know alot of you have mentioned in your race reports any chance to fire them to this thread too! He needs a good read and a laugh. Jas is in Ward 24 Palmy Hospital 2pm - 8pm
Thanks heaps:

Jason,
Don't know you mate but I have the feeling my brain out, stupid jump start began a chain of events that led to your injuries.......... sorry dude and all the very best with your recovery.
I was involved in a start line pile up in the UK years ago where I ended up collected a stalled bike and spent a long and worrying time recovering so I know where you're at just now.
Hope to meet you you at a meeting in the near future when I'll owe a few beers at the very least.
Brian Wood (next to you on the Superbike grid Sunday)

Hi Jas. Definitely work on the healing mate. Listen to the good doctors and your good lady. And please, no more of that kind of excitement at the track. I can't really process what it must have been like for you but I felt sick to my stomach seeing it. I am so grateful to be sending you a get well message instead of attending a funeral.:first:

Get well fast mate, I haven't a clue what happened, I was right behind you on the grid but can't remember seeing ya after my usual shit start.
Really hope all turns out well for ya, and like Frenchy said "sponge baths" :msn-wink: just without the male nurses he usually prefers:doctor:
Hope to see you back on the grid.

Talking of sponge baths...
Do not accept the 'possible' version. That's the one where the nurse says she will wash up and down as far as possible, but you get to wash possible.
Heal well, mate.

Jason , real bad luck man. As we all know accidents like this are damm rare & when they do happen they always come when you least expect it & for often unforseeable reasons.
Hopefully there are plenty of pretty nurses in sexy uniforms to keep your pecker up (so to speak) :-).
We all want you back at the track & fighting fit as soon as possible.
Cheers

Heal well, Jason.
I've a tip for you that you might have figured for yourself already. When it comes to the bed bath, close your eyes and think of riding a bike or something like that.... don't look at the yummy nurse!

Hey Jason,
Remember the first time I met you at a Manfield testday. You had just brought Stroudys championship winning 600. It was looking a little worse for wear as I think you may have biffed it. I sort of thought wow this guys a bit of a cowboy. Didn't take me too long to figure out you are actually a dammed good rider.
Hope all goes well getting over this setback.

Hi Jason, That was 1 scene I hope I never ever get to witness again after walking through all the bikes on the start line making sure you guys were all in your right grid positions only to turn around at the back of the grid and witness that herriffic accident. I have never ever ran so fast in all my life trying to get to the scene to see if I could help anyone. When I got to you, you were just lying there motionless and like Clive said I thought I was going to be attending a funeral. I was so dam relieved when I finally saw you moving after a few minutes and knowing that you were in the best of hands with the ambulance staff attending to you. I would like to wish you all the very best in your recovery process and hope it aint too long before you are back on your feet. Takecare of yourself Jason and my thoughts are with you. Cheers Sue (Alias Skip). VMCC

Hey Jason, I'm truly sorry for the shoulder check I gave you on my way through from the start line.
I know how it feels to be stationery on the start grid like that and have bikes nailing it from behind. I wheelied from the front row of the grid at Paeroa this year and when the bike came down it cut out...all I could do was pray that I didn't get collected. Lucky for me that there were only 3 rows or so behind me that day...with the size of the field at this meeting your chances were a lot more slim.
Hope that you heal up alright and can make it back to the life that you want to live.
All the best,
Phil.

Hi All,
Just come back from the hospital. Jason is pretty upbeat and in good spirits. His right leg has been pinned and is starting to heal well. No pain in that one.
He has a huge bruise on his left leg starting from the rear of the hip, all the way to behind the knee.
His left leg has a complicated brace holding it somewhere near straight while they wait for the swelling to go down.
It has reduced quite somewhat in size in the last day or so, I am guessing they will make a decision to operate sometime in the near future.
He is hoping they will pin it and plate it as required and that all will be ok after that. So from reading between the lines –
it looks like he thinks the leg will be saved and looking at it, I see no reason
externally that it cannot be. Time will tell and when they have a better look the surgeons will know more.
He is in good hands, the guy he has is one of the best if not THE best in the region.
The helmet has taken a good bash to the rear and top/front, thankfully it withstood the impact.
If you need more info or would like some thoughts passed along contact me.
Cheers
Warren.

Just thought I should add, that despite how nasty it looks, Jase is surprised himself how little pain he's got, and he's pretty comfortable, just really really bored! So if you can get in to visit, ward 24, Palmy Hospital, 2-8pm, he'd love the company.

Best wishes mate. I've felt the fear of something like that happening to me in F1 or F2, seen some carnage. This sounds pretty damn bad. Spoke to Leong and Phil about what happened, cause I know Phil, Gah, and Johnno who were all involved. Hope you heal up well and fast mate. You were one of the guys I didn't really know when I was racing in NZ, but that's cause you were one of the "legends".

Just an update on Jases progress, had an op last Thursday on his left knee, and the surgeons were really happy with how that went. Another one was scheduled in for tomorrow but another more badly broken dude got his spot so he now has to wait another full week before his final op to fix his knee. Hes in good spirits still, and we are hopeful of a full recovery. Big thanks to Lynda and Hamish Blair who bought in a photo of him racing at last years cemetrt circut, signed by Jorge Lorenzo, Colin Edwards and James Toseland, and a card from Aaron Slight wishing him the best, that really made his day! The things you have to do to get an autograph these days!!
Good luck to all of ya racing again this weekend, we're sorry to be missing it, be sure to let us know how ya'll go.
Cheers
Sera.
