Looking for a pair of womens race boots.

My fantastic lovely father has offered to buy me a pair so I can give the lovely Trudes  hers back and get a pair that fits me and I can race in as well as ride my bike in.

SO - I don't want to take the piss and get the most expensive ones but what I do want to do is ensure they have armour and sliders and are the kind of boots you could also bear to stand/walk around in.

Waterproof would be a good bonus but at not the clincher.

Comfort, good price and will do the trick IN A SMALL SIZE (40Uk is just a bit too big - must check size chart but recall I was a 39?) to fit midget ankles but 'strong' calves :stupid:

Ideas anyone greatly received.

Don't have a pix phone sorry - I'm living in the dark ages

A shots and model number (or whatever they call) /description would be good - so I can look up specs etc :niceone:

As I said I want to walk the line of balance between sucking dry my dads bank account while getting a good pair of boots!

So any shops out there that might have ordered/imported in a pair, that might fit the bill and aren't moving...come back to me little buddies :sunny:

I bought my Sidi Corsas second hand off ebay. used twice, toe sliders not even scuffed. $230 landed in NZ . if you know what size you are, that might be an option?.

Thanks good idea..Always good to get some recommendations as I haven't really been able to 'try' boots on cos the ones in the shops are too huge. This will be my first official pair of road boots too. The trusty old Fly dirt boots have been doing me pretty good lately though they are warm and protective they are weighty. No good for racing buckets either

If you are in Chur chur feel free to come try on my partners boots. they are Diadora and from memory size 39 euro. she has horse riders calves and they are OK on her. she did take out a little inner ankle plastic thing to make them better-er though.

It probably depends how far along the line "stong calves" are between "puny" and "cankles". Look out for Oxtar boots, they seem to have quite wide calve fittings compared to the equivalent from Sidi or Gaerne.

They're good to ride in. Only down side, if you can call it one, is that they squeak when you walk in them

That's ok, Number One squeaks when she walks anyway.... :dodge:

pleased its not must mine that do that. If you wear spurs, the jingle masks the squeak.

Hiya,

I recently went through the same dilema, and even though it was probably easier over here with the wide range and sizes available, I still had trouble finding the right boots.

I eventually decided on the Sidi Jasmine Tepor, but couldn't get my size. They had been discontinued and replaced with the Sidi Way Tepor so I ordered them instead. When they arrived I tried them on and they fitted like a glove - until I tried them on over my leathers!! Couldn't get the bastard zip up.

I ended up buying some "no brand" boots from a "supermarket bike store" nearby as I needed them quickly as we were going on holiday (Dainese leathers with a pair of Johnny Rebs wasn't going to be a good look!). First ride and I couldn't find the gears, they were too big and by the end of a weeks riding it felt like I was wearing gumboots.... My fault for the rush purchase....

So, back home I decided to persevere with the Sidi's hoping they would stretch like the other ones, got the old coathanger on the job and managed to get them up. After a few rides they are great. I'd been recommended the Sidi Vertebra because of the tightening thing at the back but wasn't looking for full on race boots, something I could walk in (without squeaking!). I know of girls who wear them over here and like them.

Good luck and if there is anything in the UK that you want an opinion on just holler.

Well I think I got confused with the Vertebras and Vertigos.....

I still can't work out which is which, but anyway, I must have "cankles" cos the one without the screw contraption at the back I couldn't do up over my normal leathers..... I didn't dare try it over my set of the leathers with the protection in the calves.... that would have been a bit too mortifying!!!!!! ("supercankles")

Glad you got something you're comfortable in and happy with!!!

Happy riding...

Yeah mine have the screw contraption...I can even do them up over my leathers due to that :niceone:

They are Vertebras and Vertigos...Vertigos is the model and they have the 'Verebra system' in them (the armoured archillies dodads)

AND thanks - Hope you get back to Welly soon given the statement in your location thingame.

There I go pulling out all the technical speak I know

Ah, that explains it! Cheers

Yeah, we'd love to be back there but the way house prices are going over here I think it'll be a year or two till we can realistically sell up and move home....

Still, hopefully it won't be too much longer!
