Buckets4Me

I dont know that one but if you can get 3 people riding the same bike doing at least 55 min each in the 2 hour you will be ok

you need a time keeper and a flag marshal as well so a team of at least 4
but only 2 riders
and at least 2 other crew :jerry:

well one for the timekeaping and to keep John happy a flaggie as well
but we only need 5 flaggies total but the more the merrier

ha sweet, I'll wipe the dust off my time machine to get the 3 man team going.

19th October 2008, 17:39
Team of four, Two Riders, a Time Keeper and a Flaggie.

Each team has to supply its own time keeper (a must) and someone to help as a flaggie (an expectation), it could be mum and dad or girlfriends or even boyfriends if your that broke back mountain kind of rider.

I reckon FXR's are a great way to start. They only need good tires to to get going with, so you can concentrate on developing riding skill and then improve the FXR's handling as required.

HP at Mt Wellington doesn,t count for as much as handling and riding.

Watching your post Ive become convinced an FXR is a smart choice. But once you start looking for more HP I expect the cost will go through the roof.

You got an AX100 - you poor guy. Here's a long thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=65916) on my experiences. Have a look in my Bucket Album (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/album.php?albumid=57) too. Another KBer with an AX100 is Trudes. Gearbox is a big issue in two ways. One it's a 4 speed, the other is when hot the gear change misses. Fresh clean good quality oil is the answer.

Hey guys, sheesh been around on this forever just not at all in last few years really, first post in awhile but anyways, oh and quickly for that matter first post in the buckets section i think! haha. I never thought life would get this tough, but yes i have resorted to bucket racing. Aquired my brothers well written off FXR150 which had done like 40,000k's. have spent the last 2 weeks cutting everything possible off it, taking everything i dont need (kickstarter electric start and gears and wiring), and "swiss drilling" all that i can too... so far, total cost = $3 for a 10mm drill bit i snapped, bike owes absolutely nothing, i have made an exhaust pipe outta crap lying around, and found my spare old XL250S PD series keihin carb with the old air cut valve on the side (non pumper unfortunately). found some old F3 race tail section and a can of $8 paint, and away i go! So yes i will be attending the 2 hour, getting fatter these days weighin in at close to 80kg, and will be doing it with my old man who keeps assuring me hes only 90...something kg's. itll be a fun day, my only quick question is what the heck is the entry fee, considering i am no longer AMCC member nor do i hold a MNZ licence?

I managed to settle onto consistant 37s laps which im pretty happy with for my first 'meet'... a bit more power will help us keep up on the straights, otherwise it's just down to committing more on the corners.

He didn't put up too many details about when/where on the track it happened.

I had a guy collect my rear wheel and go down, but I didn't see who it was. I'd just gone flying around the outside of them, they were circulating slowly. I turned into the corner pretty hard and felt them collect my back wheel and hit the ground. By the time I came around again to see who it was they were gone.

what a great day. When I got home I nearly loaded the bucket and went back. New job, wife, long list of stuff to do, and lastly a bit of sanity prevailed. Tempting though.

Great weekend everyone, shit I am still shattered this morning :2thumbsup

Scott and I were absolutly stocked with our result, and about the only thing I am regretting is loaning Zac my spare front disk that resulted in him beating us out of 3rd spot

Big thanks to too 96 600ss for loaning my hopeless partner a back protector for the day, seeing has he left his back in hellinsvile. I have got a whole heap of photos to put up at some stage as well.

I'm feeling abit stiff and knackered but I'm still buzzing .
I think the racing was good and clean but I did have to hold my hand up a few times to say sorry when passing got close we had to try hard to be upfront so thanks everybody for the extra room needed when I got it wrong .

Dave Manuwell ?? cant spell and Carl Morgan on a dieing nearly dead cb125t
Tim and Rick on a fxr150
Zack and his Dad on a bent and twisted Fxr 150 (crashed the day before and bent the forks and fround disk :shit:
Pumba + on another Fxr 150
cant remeber the rest but we would have been 10 but for a bad call and rider change 3 laps from the finish (you should have pit boards and not wave you'r hands about ) :Punk: Next year Next year I did more laps than I have ever done before

You were missed it was strange you not being there .
Sorry I did'nt make it down to see you it sounds like I missed a cracker apart from your big crash I hope your on the mend now .
Tim & I did 30min changes and Karl & Dave did 1hr so we missed out on that side but thanks to Tim it was still close Dave Diprose would have been fast at the end with his fast brother but the motor nipped up such bad luck .Tim got us on pole with a 30.6 bloody fast and I got a 32.1 I'm very happy with that I managed a couple of 31s in the race .

ah hahaha, that was pretty funny though -> i think us yelling at each other through our helmets to work out the race was almost finishes probably lost us a lap bahahaha<_<:stupid:
All goods, I'm happy with the race (i didnt even crash SHELRACING:eek:)
Looking forward to next year, should have my bike with rearsets and GP sized rims/slicks. hopefully i might even break the 34sec mark!

Zacks old mans name is Murry, finished on 208 laps if memory serves me right.

My partner was Scott, we finished on 203 laps. I was absolutly stocked we broke 200 laps, didnt think that would happen.

Hey Dudes,

We had sooo much fun, still buzzing about it. Zak can't move though, he's a bit sore.

I'm the one who should be sore, 25 years older and I binned it twice.............

I guess these young guys can't hack it even if they can do quick times.

Thanks Pumba for the disk, I've lost your number so can you text me, I need to get it back to you.

That's the first time I've ever raced anything so I'm stoked we got on the podium so to speak.

Sorry we beat you Pumba and Scott, you deserved to be third. Just can't seem to slow the young fulla down

cheers guys was a wicked weekend! the old man and i finished 6th on the fxr's first outing, it was all thanks to the chinese tyres methinks, they went the distance! one crash in practise just to find the limit and otherwise it was all good. sadly having no 2nd gear and a taller front sprocket didnt help. did my 30min stints in 3rd gear only, didnt even clutch it or anything, just chugged thru the tight ones and let it rev down the straight... motors apart now, gearbox should be sorted by next time round!
