The road out to temple view is good for 360kmh on the back wheel.
Especially the 50k zone through the Mormon village.:headbang:

Buy a map. There's dozens of great roads around the Ykato.

Go norf young man up SH1 and off to Matahuru. You can get lost on the hilly twisty roads up there for hours.

Take the back road thru Pirongia to Otorohanga, get on the boring ST HW 2 to Te Kuiti...(just a bit of boring crap) go straight through to Awakino via the gorge:2thumbsup wicked road, was one of my favourite Sunday rides when I lived up there. Great pub there too:beer: and cheap accomodation if you decide to get ripped. If you go a bit further you'l get to the Whitebait Cafe. All the way to New Plymouth is a mint ride from there too.
GAWD I MISS THEM RIDES!!!!!!!!:crybaby:

As above - Pirongia, Otorohanga (can be via some of the Kawhia Road too....). Can then go north to Kihikihi, East through Parawera, either North through Horahora or over the Arapuni dam to Putaruru, up SH1 (boring except for screaming past the lines of cars stuck at 90 km/hr), over the Karapiro dam, through Leamington, through Kaipaki, past Mystery Creek to Airport Road, Raynes Road, Peacockes Rd, and home via wherever......(well I liked that trip....)

Buckland/Taotaoroa/Peria/Scostmans loop. I do it all the time - plenty of fast flowing stuff, with a few 'wake up' corners to contend with.

The back road to Awakino from Oparua is awesome.
From Te Anga to Awakino there is 12.9km of gravel, but it's wide and flat (really, really fun on a KTM950), and the new sealed bits are fantastic.

really any roads in this area are worth a lap or two... I can get hours of enjoyment in them there hills without leaving the area 200 - 300kms laps easy or just go exploring :niceone:

The Waikato expressway - double lanes each way, near new perfect surface, and never, ever, ever has a copper on it.
Let us know how you get on.

Yep, the curvy back roads between Cambridge and Matamata make for a brilliant ride. Cambridge - Hautapu - Tauwhare - Scotsmans Valley - Walton - Richmond Downs and into Matamata. Grab a coffee at Workmans Cafe (kinda boring name but the food and coffee are awesome!) Around Richmond Downs, drop down into one side of a valley and glide up the other side to be greeted at the top by postcard views of the Kaimais - magic! The Ykato offers heaps of happy riding.
Also my favourite Sunday afternoon spin - New Plymouth to Mokau via Mt Messenger.
