This news should warm the election campaign up a treat.
A good analysis here from somebody who was in today's lock up.

Good summary of both the numbers and the political situation.
Perhaps that supercilious prick Cullen will not be so smug now...

Ok, do a new thread then if you want - I just stuffed my rant at the end of the Douche Clark thread...:done:
Loads of analysis out there, but I like this bit best:
Cullen today talks of the rainy day arriving, so it has. But the fuckwit hasn't left us without an umbrella!

That's not analysis, it's just reporting.
When I see believable models showing how Government policies influenced the economy toward its current state, or reasonable ideas about policies which would influence it toward a more desirable one in the future, then I shall perk up and take note.
IMHO, politics as it relates to the economy is almost always such an over-generalised mess of platitudes and fallacies that it's barely worth considering.

Wasn't John Key talking about spending north of $300M (before accounting for 'cultural consulting' obviously) on a new prison to lock up the bad bastards for ever? How are we going to afford that now? Bring back the death penalty?
Oh, hang on...

FTA: "The deficit is forecast to be $31 million this year and up to $3.2 billion in 2012/13"
It's unbelievable to think our entire countries deficit is going to be less than 5% of the bailout package recently approved in the US.
The figures are staggeringly small, really. Certainly not good, but that puts a perspective on how fucked the world economy is.

The cheshire cat has recently spent every last penny, on his trainset and treaty settlements galore.
His ineptitude in finance is remarkable. "We're deeply in the black, oops, no - we are a few billion in the red... , Oops we are really in the black - treasury got it wrong".
It honestly looks like a deliberate attempt to sabotage the country, since they know that Liarbour are fucked.

6th October 2008, 20:37
Apparently the sabotage that goes on at the White House during a change of power is ridiculous, child like & even to the point of costing the American tax payer a reasonable amount of $$$
So is it really any wonder?
To call them human would be stretching it

If you saw the story on Close Up tonight you would have seen Bill English kind of squirm and certainly have less answers than Cullen had.

I'm not surprised that Key and English have been squirmy today. They have until Wednesday to run the PREFU numbers and see how that affects what they were planning to announce about tax and economic policy. While they were expecting an economic downturn, I get the impression that they weren't prepared for the magnitude of the looming shit forecast by The Treasury.
It must be hard trying to maintain an air of confidence knowing that the economy, to the nearest significant figure, is fucked.

Since one of Cullen's so called answers earlier contained a pathetic and childish attempt to make the the former Merchant Banker John Key somehow connected to, and responsible for the recent problems in World Financial Markets, I'll vote squirm...

Yep, once again the National party will be inheriting a poisoned chalice off an outgoing Labour / Failure Government. They are both historically to blame but the neo-communist dictatorship has certainly rapidly accelerated wasteful spending, mostly in a long standing and very planned effort to try and enhance their re-election. Many many people in this country have been brainwashed into believing that socialism is the only way and that people with conservative philosophy are very wrong.
More than ever I look forward to the self satisfied smirk disappearing off Cullens face on election night.

The tax cuts are possibly more vital than ever, between the tunnel cunted whore & her mates & the reserve banker wanker they have managed to throttle the life out of our economy to the point where it has stalled, they need to get it kick started again & bloody fast because a tidal wave is on its way
The Prefu was done before the overseas shit fight started, it is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Sure we have a team of tosspots running the country and economy but the problem goes way beyond them.
The video "Money as Debt" explains in simple terms how the world's economies are based on debt built on debt, with very little tangible worth. Grab a coffee and use the next 47 minutes to educate yourself - to most it will be an absolute shocker. Money As Debt (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9050474362583451279)
Look forward to the comments :dodge:

'Money as Debt;' had a quick scan thru & it looks like a rerun of social credit.
It does not give an answer to our immediate problems .
The world wide economy is in for interesting times & who knows where it will finish up . Look for governments world wide to plough a shit load of money into economies to try an avert another world wide depression but whose money are they using & does that money have any fundamental worth , fucked if I know.

Good viewing! I understand it and wonder when the whole thing will come crashing down again or will governments keep manufacturing money to keep the system going.
So here's a question?
What is our national debt?? A few years ago it was quoted quite frequently as $$$ for every man woman and child in Kiwi land! You never hear of it now. You always hear about trade deficits etc but do we still owe billions from Think big and later borrowing! So how many fictional dollars does NZ owe??

New Zealand is also staggeringly small in comparison to the U.S.........So when you put it into perspective that way, it's not so staggeringly small.....

Yes, and I believe that if it was a business and not a country he was running he would be held accountable. But, he'll get away with it because he's a politician. The worst he'll get is a naughty letter with the same stead as a letter from the U.N. (in otherwords nothing will happen)
Regional fuel tax approved for AK . Well done labour , good start to fixing things, lets increase taxes , boost business overheads & costs , decrease joe publics disposable income .
Yes that's a fair enough idea, Auckland will pay for the whole countrys roading as well as individually paying for it's own.......

Yeah yeah, And Piggy chucked an absolute hospital pass at the Lange Govt.
I will vote for whoever comes up with a coherent set of policies that encourage growth , reward effort & lead the country forward.
For 9 years Labour has punished excellence & rewarded indolence, I don't expect them to change.
I don't see enough from the Nats to inspire me with confidence, they are the best of a poor bunch.
Its funny how the looney left have suddenly gone a bit quiet on this site , it must be hard to defend a govt that has squandered a wonderful opportunity the way these clowns have.

Fair call. It would be great to have such a government but too many of the population are conditioned to ''the world owes me a living"

Lange knew what he was picking up from Muldoon's term, and his election campaign was about how tough it was going to be....but they would do it.Pity his right hand man went out of control.John Key should also be fronting up to what he's taking on,talking about taking tough measures, not free handouts. He's not going to turn it around in a year.Tough times mean tough measures.

The thing that gets me, is that this government despise what went on under Rogernomics, they have been determined to rebuild the public sector to a point where it is so out of control that another round of Rogernomics may well be needed. These people didn't actually learn a bloody thing from that whole experience, the scary thing is they are proud of what they have achieved.

And times would be a whole lot less tough had these neo commies not wasted bags and bags of money on often questionable historical grievance electioneering handouts, 50,000 extra paid beneficiaries ( civil servants ) Train sets and a plethora of other waste and squandered opportunities.
John Key is not perfect but Id much much prefer to have him at my dinner table, Clark and Cullen Id only have at my door as doormats.

Richardson to her credit made sure that every govt now has to open the books before an election.
Of course , because we can trust Clark she would have told us the truth anyway, Yeah Right.

Here's one even stupider: Require all eligible parties to file a format-specified budget by 4 weeks pre-election.
Legaly require them to stick to it, books audited quarterly.
Fix the term of government to "as long as you stay within budget".
New budget = new election.

What is the point of attempting to engage in meaningfull disourse with people who habitaully load their posts with such emotive vitriol as this....
...neo commies , 50,000 extra paid beneficiaries ( civil servants )... Train sets ....
And although I've picked on Robert here to illustrate my point, he is by no means the only offender. Frankly I'm tired of the juvenile way those on this site with right wing leanings, seem to attempt to add value to their opinions and posts with this sort of petty name calling...

Of course a thread titled 'CUNT KEY" demonstates total maturity & is an extremely reasoned & rational discourse on the merits of the leader of the opposition
Robert is at one extreme & I don't always agree with him, but I think some of the labour supporters are equally blinkered in their approach.
Helen & Sullen will have known about the about the prefu situation for prob 3 months , what have they done , nothing but play politics, this is actually more important than that .
