After reading Keith Code’s “a twist of the wrist” this is what I learned.

To go faster, don’t charge the corners.

Slow down to go faster

Ride your own race.

You are racing the track not the other riders, they are only trees to ride around.

Don’t look at them, look past them, have them in your peripheral vision.

Look up the track.

Approching a corner position your body to the inside.

Pick a point for the end of the speed adjustment (braking).

Before getting there lift your head and look up the road to the next corner.

Use counter steering to turn quickly into the corner.

Keep the elbows bent and lose.

Point your knee in the direction you want to go.

Look around an imaginary door in front of you.

Keep the upper body low and forward.

Place your body weight on the outside foot peg.

With the ball of your foot, use the peg as a fulcrum to turn the bike.

Lean into the corner while pushing the bike up and away from you.

Use counter steering to keep the bike tracking into the corner.

Don’t use the entire track, turn tight as you can.

By turning tight you can see the possibilities for going faster.

Relax and let the bike buck wobble and kick, its only making the adjustments that it needs, to go where your stearing it.

Personally how do you remember all this! I can see me just rushing around like a head-less chicken, its easier.

I know!! I am going to tape these instruction onto my tank and read them aloud to myself as I race around Taupo. :2thumbsup

It’s a good book. I hope you read “A twist of the wrist 2".
It was good for me to help my riding stile but I still hope to do some training at a track one day to get someone else’s view on how to ride better and safer.

Nah, what would that ageing Scientology hippy know?

Charge those corners baby, you have to let them know who’s boss, & that should scare them a bit.

Use all the track, most of the run off, -& the pit wall if the opportunity presents itself. Turning only scrubs off speed.

A track is only a selection of straights, how you connect them is just an inconvenience best not pondered on too long.

Don't think too hard. Instead work on one or two things at a time. Or else you miss the bigger picture.
Brain overload, your miss having fun, and then the day will be over.

Ya might want to translate it into Scottish first though.
