Can anyone suggest a good mechanic in the Auckland area i got an after market carb to be fitted to my sportster..

yip do it your self, is a peace a piss to do.
should be no more than 2 hours.
just gotta watch the vent/balance pipe orings when reinstalling,
or you'll have oil leaks..trust me i know..
