We stayed at
http://www.eastlandpacific.co.nz/ in Opotiki on Friday night.  Would have to be one one off the best places around. They put our bikes in a locked garage over night. Units clean and spacious. Like new with spar etc. So if you are going through there it is well worth staying. Restaurant next door Pub up the road and a good feed to boot. Breaky in the rooms.
We went through the gorge from Gisborne to Opotiki but the seal was literally like rivers of melted tar. Darn it is hard to ride in. Happy riding all but this place was good.
To all the Australians we meet in Wairoa and beyond :shake: " good to meet you all and hope the rest of your trip is as good as the first 3 weeks" :2thumbsup Despite being Australians they were good company. :wavey:

I stayed in Opotiki for part of my holiday a couple of years back, the gorge is an awesome ride but my most vivid memory of it is rounding a corner leaned way over and finding someone`s car bonnet in the middle of the road, you`d be amazed at how a lardy BMW will react in extreme circumstances. If you ever see a guy on a Yellow V-max round those parts give him a wave.

Yes. Lovely motel, owners very friendly & helpful. Gixxer4eva & son went home via SH30, Mrs MSTRS & I went home via East Cape. What a stunning ride!! If anyone has the chance to do it, don't put it off. Brilliant. Napier/Opotiki approx 400km via Waioweka Gorge. Opotiki/Napier approx 600km via East Cape. Thank goodness for sheepskin covers on the seats - sportsbikes aren't really made for touring. Do it again?? Yes please.

Everyone gets a wave all the time every where. :wavey: :wavey: We lost some of the fun due to the tar but I have done it twice before so understand what you are saying. We had a good play in the last 1 km or so as we got passed the traffic and just cut loose. :yeah: When we got to the straight bits a cage wanted to set the pace so it was cool. Then a stop for a big, say 600 or more, cows to cross the road. Darn they leave a lot of shit on the road. :o So where was the rest of the car Hahahah yep even a BMW will do it when it needs to. :ride:
