View Full Version : Where to find Honda parts?

I'm fitting an XR650L tank to my sherpa, and need to use an XR fuel tap.
I asked the local Honda dealers if they could order me one, they seemed very surprised, and said they couldn't order parts like that, and I should try the local wreckers, who also didn't have anything suitable.

I've had a look at the Econohonda website, and they don't have anything in their database.

Where do you find honda parts in NZ? Should I try another dealer, to see if they can at least check if Honda NZ stocks, or can get, something suitable? Or will I need to start searching for something second hand (and probably overseas)?

I wouldn't bother with the NZ Honda dealers - most of them are useless for parts, because the importer is so useless.
Try someone like Ride Now Powersport (http://partsfinder.ridenow.com/fiche_section_detail.asp)s in Mrka.
I dunno what model XR fuel tap you're after, but I looked up a 2001 XR650L for you, and it was ~US$50 for the complete petcock.

I've bought a few things from them (indirectly), and they've never failed to have stuff in stock, and at a good price. Something to bear in mind if Econohonda or whoever can't get you one.

I'm getting some parts from Econohonda, try emailing Hamish at hamish@econohonda.com
oops just read your post properly, oh well, for anyone else looking for Honda parts, these guys have been awesome to deal with. Good luck Rosie.

Thanks I'll have a look. It's an aftermarket tank, and says it will fit all '93 - '08 models of XR650L, so any year should be ok.

Tried Peter Glidden Honda at Te Awamutu? http://www.pghonda.com/

It's a few years since I've used them but they used to have an awesome stock of used parts.

Haven't dealt with Hamish at EconoHonda but I have dealt with Malcolm and he is very helpful - like others are saying ring him because he will know what to do. What's the chance the tap is the same as XR250 and all the other similar Honda dirt bikes?
