Could never see my self as a cruiser type, would never even give a cruiser type bike a second look.
That all changed a couple of weeks ago when Blackbuell turned up at my job riding a Victory motorcycle. from what I gather they are part of Polaris.
I had never even heard of Victory Motorcycles, until Big Dave turned up on one at a fathers day bike show in Howick.
The model which Blackbuell turned up on, is called (HAMMER), I think, I just love the way it looked, I even got a chance to go for a little spin around the carpark.
Just the other day BB turns up on another Hammer model, this had the duel seat, he hopes if he takes his partner for a ride, she may warm to the idea of him buying one,:lol: haha good luck, and yesterday he turns up on another model (8BALL) with its black paint and awesome looking loud pipes.

The 8ball looks well sexy until the hopelessly predictable rear guard, something slim n sexy would be the go.

Agreed, very nice looking but a tad small maybe.
Let's see what they come up with in the next few years. Hopefully something around 1800cc, more power and a longer wheelbase and wider rear tyre.

I'm not a fan of cruisers, and all the attitude that goes with them, but that blue beast (the Hammer?) is seriously pretty, and I can see the attraction. With the possible exception of those long mufflers - the proportions look worngA.
I can see why Bad Ass Bikers wear black - that last photo in each set (is that you, Old Guy, or Black Buell?) looks weird.

i always like the victory, even there names of there models sound cool,
hammer, 8ball
compare that to softtail, ultra wide glide.

Well, I'm sure Hardley would like to call their bikes names like "Hard Ass". "Ultra Big Dick", "Mother Fucking Sonofabitch", and "Ball Breaker", but you know how funny (and sometimes hypocritical) Mrkns can be about stuff.

I thought all the names from victory to 8ball sounded cheesy and generic.

I would agree, I'm not a cruiser fan myself, but that hammer, its the first cruiser I like the look of from any angle, the only thing I would change are the pipes.
when I think cruisers, I think Ulysses riders, old bikers growing old disgracefully,
I do that on the Buell.
thats Blackbuell in those last pics,

They are nice - maybe too nice............ they do not look very 'manly' just a bit too custom show for me.
Why bother - buy a Harley, cost the same they will be easier to sell.

The Hammer is seriously gorgeous, but Im inclined to wonder whether I would like the 250 rear tyre with the slim front wheel. The 8Ball is actually a blacked out "Vegas", which is more chrome goodies.
Check out Vegas sale on trade me

I always get a little bit of a giggle when someone discovers Victory bikes.. which of course have been around for a little while now.
But gaining more notice now I guess, in this country.

I laboured over dealing with this in the KR test.
In several ways a 250 rear lowers the performance bar for on road riding - but for an experienced rider it also raises the enjoyment factor at legal speeds.
In short - It takes a lot more effort to haul it around - but what it translated to for me was bloody good fun at lower speeds.
Someone green jumping off a gixxer would hate it.

Hey Dave,
Nice photo essay on the Hammer & Vision, I still can't get used to the Vision even after seeing it in the flesh at SFI Ullyses Launch. The "Street" version has lines I cud live with. The Arlen Ness "Street" version he built for Sonny Barger is cool.
I read your (?) article in KR today, so I now look fwd to the day I cud ride one!
BR Mag has a "Vegas" test this month which is fairly positive.

Yeah - my bit. Have the Hammer test coming up and I'm going to do something real artsy photo-wise with 8 ball - shortly.
The Hammer is excellent for experienced riders too.

Hammer is sort of the riders bike, twin discs an all but I cant see why they put a 250 rear on it. Looks I suspect, and it does have that something, we call it "performance".
Take it somewhere you can really enjoy it.

We went and checked out the ones at the Polaris shop in Takanini this afternoon. Must say they do look pretty nice, and the sound from the Hammer (one of the guys started it up in the shop) was to die for. Not literally I hope. But mmm mmmm, could go for that. They'll be on display at Big Boys Toys and the chap we spoke with suggested that I check out the Vegas Low (coupla inches lower still, for "the ladies" or short dudes). Might just have to do my first ever visit to the BBTs show!

Looks like the BBT was a roaring success for the guys in Takanini. I went in to sign up for my Kingpin today and an 8-ball and Hammer went out the door just while I was there.
Over the next few weeks I'll try to give a little feedback on living with Victory (a la Divot with the Ultra). It was interestin to see quite a few H-D riders turing up and heading out on demo rides.
