When someone says "Fairing damage" and they're selling a '97 Honda Firestorm VTR1000 for $6.5; is there a hidden meaning? Like, "major structural damage, needs about $3k of repairs and a new engine, AS WELL as the piece of plastic that you can see"?

Don't be so pessimistic... It sounds like a mean bargain... :shake:

Fairing damage normally means just that, scratched, cracked and in need of some TLC. Most of these can be fixed with relative ease and minimum expenditure.

I'm with Tuscan - it sounds like a bargain to me. But you'll need to take a good look and remove the offending damaged fairing in order to ensure that there's no hidden damage. Depending on where the fairing is damaged, you may also need to check the state of the mirrors, brake, clutch lever etc.

There's some good souls here. Maybe somebody local that knows their stuff could offer their services when you view it.

Good luck

Yep, check it out by taking all that you can off. If you know someone who knows about bike ie: mechanic or something, take them along to help check it out.

Sounds like a mean deal, but it wont be unless you check and double check its not gonna cost you more than what you intend.

6500 is pretty sweet man, personally i think you should go for something cooler like a TL1000S :ar15: Most of the time fairing means cosmetic only but you never know, so checking it out is always a good thing.
Just with the VTR's is the side mounted radiators, is the fairing has taken a knock be sure to check the radiator for any damage, shit starts getting costly then.
But all in all if you want to veiw it or have someone have a look for you, i'd offer my services, i'm off work for at least another month and i do nothing but sit around at home all day, (put on like 6kgs already, might do me some good to get out before i start having to buy new clothes :disapint: )
But yeah more than happy to lend a hand and check it out, the only thing i cant do is test ride a bike (give me half a chance and i'll try thou, broken hand or not)

Just flick me a PM if ya need assistance.

Is that the silver one on Trade Me? Doesnt look too bad from the photo. Has nice pipes on too, Moriwaki Zero Titanium, bike looks like it could do with a decent clean, though.
