When we win the 30 mill tonight.
Will buy a house here in NZ and another back in Portugal.
Take the family for a nice cruise around the world. Give a mill to each of the family members and ex wife. (Allways pays to keep her happy)
invest a good portion of it.
Might get Maha a Kawasaki.
LOL mabe a Honda.
Donate some $$$ to my fav charities.
By his and her New bikes for mrs portokiwi and myself.

Yep, I've got a ticket, I don't bother with getting one every week but this time round I figured one chance out of how ever many hundres of millions was better than none at all.

What would I do with it? Hmm, throw some cash at my current flatmates & say screw you I'm out of here, go find me a nice big house with a massive garage out near Coatsville-Riverhead area, get hold of various bike shop owners and have then open up on Sunday, have a huge KB party... oh yeah, somewhere along the way I'd tell my family and make sure my mum never had to work again:love:

Get me this one!!! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-177386918.htm

I would choose ten of the most deserved on here and buy them the bike of their chioce.
I would also inject $$$ into small town hospitals.
Work would be in the past.
I would get Honda tattooed on portokiwi's left arm
I would also donate to three charities of my choice.
I really dont need that kind of money, so others would benefit.

Excellent investment there then... put in $11 to get a $8 return. Hmmmm.

All my advice would be to any winners here is to be very cautious with it. many win big and lose bigger. Lock most of it away in split term deposits and live off the thousands in interest per day. Pay off your debts, then get used to the interest cash flow first. Get a good financial advisor to help split you investments to obtain a good return whilst allowing you to buy assets that won't leave you broke in the long run.

Oh and invite me to the party of course. I'll bring my strippers.

I'd make sure all my kids were set up for life, and could afford flights to come and see their Dad.

Set up a respite/holiday place for all those kids that selflessly give up their childhood to look after unwell parents 24/7. I'd love to see them fellas running round free, going nuts, for a while.

And of course fill the garage with all those things I've lusted after for so long.

Oh and travel the world, though I doubt I'd find much better than NZ. :done:

Yeah, and that advice given five years ago would have seen any winners losing a solid half of their cash by now.

$30 million? Fuck getting a 'good return', that's for people who don't have $30 million yet. 5-6% p/a from term deposits with 2% taken out as income and the rest ploughed back into the capital would see you set for life.

However, anyone who buys lottery tickets is pretty much proving right from the start that they don't have a clue about money management...

... that said, I just gave in and bought one.

:done:

(To answer the original question, were I a 'gentleman of leisure', I'd divide my time between going back to school to get a PhD, and turning myself into a vaguely competitive athlete.)

I dont know...you gotta be in to win. It's the ones who phone psychic hotlines to ask psychics when and where they should buy their winning tickets who have no clue about money management...or reality.

what would you do with the cash if you won?

Fuck all that pussy shit about paying mortgages buying houses

I'd order a new LCR sidecar and have my entry in for the next world championship, and I'd order a second one just for the LCR hating Scrivy and deliver it to him personally

Once that was done I'd be getting sorted for the Next Paris-Dakar and I'd fucking ride overland to get to the start line

I'd do a world tour by bike that would make Ewan and Charlies trip look like a ride to the bloody shops

I'd start my own Motorcycle Academy with the long term plan of getting some promising young NZers into MotoGP/SBK etc

I'd set up a National "Battle of the Streets" 6 rounds over 6 cities (free entry of course) and buy off or have killed any fucker on the council who voiced any objections

30mil would probably buy enough politicians to get the speed limit raised to whatever I bloody wanted as well or buy the Judges to get any charges against me tossed out of court
