Well, the kms are not that important I reckon. This one is in mint condition throughout... Plenty of rough-as-guts 250s out there with less kms on it that wouldn't be worth half as much. Not saying your bike was rough, but most 250s are according to my experience.
Tyres, chain and sprockets are consumables - expensive consumables but consumables none the less - no different from oil and petrol as far as I am concerned. Sounds like poor timing though ;)

His dream may well become a reality though. They don't make them like they used to. They do sell near this price... and at dealers for more.
People are just bitter because they can't get them cheap even as they get older. Comes down to several things... supply and demand. They are one of the two BEST learner bikes EVER made. And the fact they stopped making them in the early 90's means that supply has somewhat dwindled.
Although from where I'm sitting I trust the CBR a whole lot more.

You can not beat the CBR for reliability - those gear-driven cams are pretty much bulletproof. And the camchain and tensioner unit is the ZXR's achillies heel - as I found out. I have had all that replaced - not cheap but necessary. Now it's done and it should be good for at least another 30,000 kms.
The ZXR beats the CBR when it comes to handling though - the suspension is better. Also, the ZXR250As (pre-1991) have a slightly larger frame than the other 250 crotch rockets. If you're 6 foot like me you will appreciate that.
If you like mint bikes there aren't many of them around.

That would seem obvious - but some people insist on being annoying and poking their noses into concerns that are not their own.

I had the wheel bearings changed when I bought it - new chain and sprocket too. As far as problems goes - the camchain tensioner unit started playing up just before christmas and that lead to a whole lot of grief. (I think the relevant thread is called FUCK ARSE!!! and was posted in the General Bike Ravings forum a couple of days before christmas).
A previous owner slipped and dropped it in his driveway - minor scratch on righthand fairing.
I lowsided it at Levels doing about 80 km/h and had a nice big tumble and a concussion. Thankfully only cosmetic damage to the bike. I've had a professional job done of repairing and repainting all of the front fairing panels and repairing the muffler ($700). I have put new indicator units on the front and a new bar-end on the righthand side - all genuine Kawasaki parts.
The only mark still visible on the bike after the lowside is a slight scraping of the foot of the righthand forkleg. Performance and handling was not affected in anyway.
I really have not spared any expense in taking care of this bike!

I've seen it, it's had no reasonable expense spared to keep it serviced / tyres / detailed in excellent condition.
Really, if you were looking for one of these, you'd know just how many doggy, badly maintained, scratched up piece of shite ZXR250s exist in this sad little country. You'd be better off paying an extra $1500 for a bike like that this with known documented history (it's all described above) than some cheaper lump that's been owned by some dickhead 16 year old who couldn't afford to look after it the way a 20 year old bike needs to be.
The reason that bikes like this still command a good price, is because the alternatives are ghey arse pieces of shite that only the ignorant buy... Hyosung GTR250 or the new "I'm still a piece of shite GPX250" Ninja 250 anyone? No? Didn't think so...

This bike is a honey. Mikkel has spent the $$ to keep this bike very tidy, and has never compromised his high standards. The new owner will get a nice bike.

Cheers guys. :)
Besides I dunno why everybody are whinging about the 6k price tag. The starting bid is 5k and there is no reserve - so you could actually get it for 5k. And I dare say that would be a bloody bargain!

Oh oh! I found one!

Oh wait... it's one of those banged up ones with a numb nuts that can't even maintain it properly, just like I mentioned before.
rabidnz, you might want to reconsider giving fiscal advice, given that, you know, you parted with money for that 170cc turd and all...

But having said that is your perogative to ask whatever you wan't, I'm sure you wont be forcing people to buy it at gunpoint.
Good luck with your sale.

Bike is advertised elsewhere - I reserve the right to withdraw the auction if sold.
TradeMe won't like that line, the wankers didn't like it in my auction when I sold a bike. They might send you an email saying you have to be committed to the auction process etc...
Of course, you can't reply to the email either (and I felt so good drafting the shitty reply - the failure to send it sent my temper through the roof).
If they do, leave em a feedback, saying, if I can't reply to your claims, I'll ignore correspondence. :done:

Certainly wasn't me... I tend to ignore these kind of people - not waste my rep allocation on them.
And as you say, it's my bike to sell. Can't see why anyone who haven't inspected it would feel a need to chirp in with an uninformed opinion.

Well, I honestly couldn't care less. If I pay $19 to advertise my bike through trademe I'm not going to give a flying rat's arse... It's not like they are doing ME a service.
I wouldn't even bother posting feedback - I'd ignore it completely.
