Gidday,
Finally got around to updating this post.
Alot has happened on the track for those who havn't been there for a while, or ever. The other day Pat brought a tracscovator, and a lot has happened since.
-There has been novice tracks added around the whole loop alongside the real loop - its much shorter and easier - perfect for the kids or the missus.
-The corners have bermed amd rutted up thanks to the likes of pros such as Jessie Wiki and Chris Singleton visiting 3 times or so a week. It is now much, much faster. Not to mention us adding a few berms here and there.
- A track has been added out the back - has nothing on it atm, we have big plans for it.
-There are now more jumps, and some have been enlarged.
-Some sections have been widened.
-There is now proper sign in forms and a booth thing to fill them out.
We are now in the process of building a large jump. Should be done very soon. Check photos for a look.
The track is located on Heddon Rd just out of Whatawhata, going towards Raglan. There is now no tyre on the Main Rd fence, due to a shitty farmer removing them. Its a $10 Donation.
Dont go there expecting an extremly wide, smooth track. This track is very steep for a mx track, and not smooth, but tbh I prefer to ride harder terrain rather than smooth fast tracks. Its ridable, but very tricky in the wet. Be careful on the drop.
The track owners a good guy... doesnt care when you turn up.
Hope to see you out there.
More pics 1st post on page 4.

That step up is the shit eh!! Really good fun hitting that, ya gotta hit it pretty hard though, shit it would be a good 60-80 footer if it was a tabletop, love it!! I think Pat would be sweet with guys there during the week, I don't know about after work though, you would have to ask him, I wouldn't want bikes there if i was trying to eat my dinner and watch the news..
I think we have to be really aware of stuff like that, respect his space and property, like when it's dusty and blowing all over his new house(when its finished) use our brains and fuck off. Sould be sweet on any wind but northerlies.
Need to have a good talk to him and just see what he is cool with, think it needs some basic rules and hours of operation out there to put with the sign on sheet if it is going to get used by alot of randoms, I can just see some dick hooning up the gravel road, pissing Pat off and fucking it for everyone and its such a sweet handy spot we wouldn't want that. Can't see anyone on here doing that but the potential is definitly there.

yeah. pats pretty sweet with it as far is i know... they wanna sell food there now haha. and that jump over the drain before the step up is done... 2 jumps in a row now :)... tracks not THAT long... it would be no good with 30 bikes on it... but its decent length, and iv been there 5-6 times, going back this weekend and im not bored with it yet.

nah, his house is being built at the moment, hes living in a caravan in a shed at the moment, so no phone. Theres not really any rules and regs, its a "$10 donation" track, basically to avoid the whole tax thing, so bring $10 along, and sign the paper that basically states if you get hurt its not their fault. Just turn up and say the "Fast Skinny White Cunt" told you about it. haha. He knows iv told people about it over the net, hes cool with it.
Btw... when you go there, go have a chat with him, hes a bloody funny dude.

theres no 60-80 foot step up, ash said it would be 60-80ft if it was a tabletop. Cant be to extreme, dont want amatures trying stuff theyr not up to.

Nah it would be a good 60-80 if it was a tabletop, ya can smash it hard in 3rd on the 450, then gas it up before you land and fly up the hill, its way steeper than it looks in the pic's it's awesome fun, good to hit a jump hard like that and it's safe as. Good for the confidence and getting used to hitting jumps hard, went to another track on the weekend and hit a 60ft tabletop and a 55-60ft triple with my new found balls.. Lovin it. Pats track is good for the skills, its no smooth ride and has some off camber stuff to keep you awake. Yeah Pats a top man, he'll yarn with ya till the cows come home, plenty of tales to be told..

heh heh, more than plenty... he could go on for days haha. yeah the pics dont quite do the the track justice... it looks tame in the pics. i have more, but due the 2 sec delay on the camera, they all suck. yeah even my 250 clears it no problems, now theres a jump right before it (you can see a little unshaped pile of dirt in the pics over a culvert) so i dunno how my 250 will manage that.
The guy that built it was there, at some point hes gonna put an alternative route around that hill for people like ur missus.

well iv shown the best i can in the pics... the jumps are bigger than they appear in the pics. its clay.
one straight, one drop, couple tabletops, couple step ups, one jump over a ditch, an off camber bit which has caught a few people out so far, bermed corners...
put it this way... in my opinion its worth the trip out from ngaras.

Went for a spin there today with CR125NZ and Dafydd Roberts - really enjoyed it, couple of gnarly little uphills
and heaps of cool little jumps! Some off cambers which I found a bit different just after a shower. There is one cool jump on a downhill just before a left hand bend which is tricky -the jump is all good but not much time for braking before the corner! My brakes dont work too good in the air lol- But I loved it all and will be returning soon. The owner Pat is a hearty fellow and has a really nice attitude. Good spot - cheers honda_power for letting us know.

Nah mate as i said in a previous post if it was a tabletop it would be big, but it is a step up so its probably only 35-40ft, ya land at the top of your arc so i was just estimating the distance if it was a jump on flat ground, i hit it in 3rd or 4th on the 450 and land right up the hill, hitting it harder than i hit a 60ft jump at another track i ride. Come and see for your self man its great fun!! The pic's don't do the steepness of the hill any justice, ya can't really hit this jump too hard, well maybe ya can, i will try this weekend

We rode this track on Monday, would of gone to Kimmys but they refused to open all weekend.
Pat is a good bloke, thinks us skinny white pakeha fullas are crazy!
I dont think ill go back unless alot more work goes into the track, needs more jumps, could do with being wider in some parts and isnt really big enough if alot of people show up. Might be ok if your local but we didnt think it was worth our 2hr drive from West Auckland.
Wasnt all negative though, $10 is cheap for a days riding. Its only early days, the digger was excavating and building tables and stuff while we were there. Interested to see pics of the place in a month or so.

Yeah, theres gonna be a triple over those 2 tables that were being built when we left, ill get him to chuck a jump or something up on the top flat bit as well, maybe build a few berms up, but they are starting to rut up nicely and you dont really need them

Its got to be a neighbour, one of those anti bike people. Just keep putting it back, maybe with a cheap padlock and then if it disappears you know they are serious.
It costs about $5 to get rid of a tyre these days so do a deal with your local tyre shop. Put one tyre out every day and you could make easy as pocket money:laugh:

Haha not a bad idea, yeah i'm pickin it's a neighbour as well, the tyre was good for fuck all so can't see any other reason other that they don't like bikes up there.. Nevermind as long as our old mate Pat is happy then it's on.

yeah the thing is its public so we cant put anything really extreme on it, as idiots that cant ride will hurt themselves and lump pat in the shit. that jump we are building now will be semi-decent though. let me know when your heading out next time, 16hr milking now so have plenty of time to ride, its just not that fun with no one to race :)

sweet as... fuel injection huh? fancy. Go much better than the crf? Had a ride on a 05 rmz450 that day. Wasnt bad but it was quite heavy. 08 onwards look great though. wasnt too sure if it really was a jump so didnt try it, fence can be pinned down... looks awesome.

Honda handled better but the RMZ fuel injected power is better. Mrs Pat was the one who wanted the fence - you keen to take her on?

Nice job on the new hit sweetie darling..
Have to get the tape measure out next time, it's gotta be 60ft+, its a good hard hit in 3rd gear on the 4fit, landing is butter if you hit it hard enough. Nice work, best hit there now I recon.
Honda power your the FMX Krazzy guy, get some pic's of you doing some fat whips over it bro!!

Yeh I was there Sunday, Depends how hard you hit it but talking about the new step/over jump just over the hill at the start, it steps over the old track, yah hook right when you land then left over the little jump and up the hill to the maize paddock. Fuck we had a 60ft tabletop at our old track and I wasn't hitting it anywhere near that hard, be interesting to measure it, maybe it's deceptive because its up and over a hill, ahh dunno good fun jump though, I wasn't going too silly, was there by myself.. Keen for practice next Saturday at Pats then racing at cambridge sunday.

Bro the 4fit smashes it, landing about 2 bike lenghts short of the truck track coming down the hill, sorta just past the old original bike track coming down the hill, I was just rolling that corner in 3rd jumping the little lip then twisting that shit on, yeah that berm is just powder, will be sweet after this rain.

depends what track jerome uses, ive been to about three different tracks all named under the same ride. theres a cool bush track that is just a hard slog in the rain, no real big hills but still lots of fun grinding through the mud, and theres bound to be lots of it!!:2thumbsup

Plenty of height in the knobs just rounded off, would be good for your FMX ramps, hard as fuck. I'm picking up a mid-soft tonight, think cambridge will be a mudder. 029 used to be telstra, vodafone now.

Goodmorning everyone
My first time posting, I am looking for an awesome track, trail or mx for my young fella to have a play on, he is 8 and has a crf70, wanting to get him into it before he needs a bike upgrade. He is fairly confident around the farm but is very keen to try a track to get dirty on with humps, bumps and jumps lol. We live out Whatawhata way so was wondering if Karamu would be the one?? I am also looking for a Honda CRF250X 2006 and up if anyone knows of a good decent one for sale around the Waikato

Here a page where we have tried to include all practice tracks that are open on regular basis and where you can rock up and ride when it suits you. Note that there are more tracks around that are run by clubs, but many of them are mainly focused on the racing and only have a day or two of practice time/month.

Gidday,
Finally got around to updating this post.
More pics 1st post on page 4. is it still there or nah?

nah, his house is being built at the moment, hes living in a caravan in a shed at the moment, so no phone.
Has he got contact number now..... 9 years on haha
