Saw this article in the latest (November) issue of NZ Autocar, with the election imminent it makes some interesting points even if it is a little light. Posted here for your interest and edification.

Note: Even though this primarily aimed at cages, remember that ultimately we are all affected by higher costs/changes to rules and regulations aimed at cages or the transport industry whether directly or indirectly.

Yep, that certainly isn't going to happen - certainly not in the long term. The ACT part obviously hasn't being paying much attention to what is happening in the rest of the world.
Probably the only constant is that we as motorists will remain a cash cow for the government no matter who they may be. The only slight variable will be the length of the arm attached to the hand reaching into your pocket...... :)
