Well, I picked the only wet and windy day of the month to sit my full test this morning, but I passed! Yay!

The roads were really greasy and full of cars at rush hour this morning but I managed to successfully navigate my way around, trying desperately to remember the instructions given to me...first right, second on the left, go to the top of the hill, take the second left etc etc. That was the worst part, trying to remember where I was supposed to go.

Hazards included a u-turn in a freshly gravelled road, vans reversing straight out of driveways without looking, a bird which I think I ran over, and a dog which raced out of a house and tried to bite me. The instructor behind almost ran it over and said later he thought he might have clipped it.

Ah well, back to work now for a rest.....

Up at AA Westgate, you know, they have Uniden radios with earpieces to go under your helmet. This 'remembering instructions' is soooooo last-century, man.

Good on you. Bloody awful commuting today. If you can pass your test on a day like today riding should be a breeze.

You've just got to love Wellington.

Shame about the weather (you know is a beaut day out at Kapiti dont you)
But perhaps it was good to get the "bad weather day" out of the way so it will be fine on the next big important day eh??? (a couple of weeks away I believe??)

Well done Tigger! Your experience reminds me of the day I sat my restricted licence. It was pissing down horrendously. So much so that the testing official decided to follow me around in a car rather than on his bike. With the wet weather came the visor fogging...

We stopped up at the Newtown Park carpark to do the wheelies and stoppies bit. There was an oil slick across most of the carpark, so that when I got to the part where I had to do my emergency stop, everything locked up and I went aquaplaning off in the direction of Wellington airport. The tester said "That was impressive. Let's try that again somewhere less slippery..."

No damage done. Test passed. Rode home in a monsoon, got dry, changed and went back to work. Top fun.

Great stuff!
I often wondered if bad weather was better for sitting the test?
It's easier to watch speed, and you're a bit more carefull, so the instructor notices this?

I know! It's a fantastic day here now - the complete opposite from 7.30am this morning. Ah well, as Curious George said, in some ways the weather gave me a good excuse for going quite slowly and being ultra cautious.

Yes, the 'big day' is less than 2 weeks away now - my last weeks of 'singledom'....

Now I've got this out of the way I just need to sort out the dress, the photographer and the marriage licence .... plenty of time...... :eek5: aarrgghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

This 'instructor' was in a beaten up Honda city with the drivers door held on by pieces of insulation tape. It was a big dog, so I'm not sure who would have come off worst. <_<

Yup I know the drill, My intended just told me she is buying the dress instead of making it & of course wants the $2200 one. & then is interviewing photographers which approach $2k. This on top of the reception & service, bridesmaids dresses arrrggghhhh. And now she said I can interview some photographers if I want (read so I can share in the misery).

When you get on the plane have a look around, I might be on it too at this rate, either to elope or escape.

Good luck though.

Hi Dave, it's certainly an expensive time. The minute you say 'wedding' everyones eyes light up with dollar signs. I decided to buy a dress in the end too, although it wasn't that expensive though. Went for a fitting the other night and there's something wrong with the stitching so they're rapidly trying to fix it at the moment. :disapint:

We're trying to get a photographer for about $800, but it might end up being my cousin, at least he is free! I'm more worried about the lack of a marriage licence, we sent all the info over about 6 weeks ago and they're leaving it a bit late if there are any problems.

Andy! Hasn't your invitation turned up yet?! We're running off to Fiji actually, to get away from all the fuss and churches and things. Tim isn't a karate man, which is fine with me. Although I wasn't allowed to go to sparring last night in case I get covered in bruises. I don't think he was too impressed with me getting 2 black eyes in the last 6 months or so. :o

i have yet to get a black eye.... does that come with the black belt?

i have to move.. hopefully i may move to an area that has a seido class....

so that i can (try and)give you a black eye ... when you get back hahahha

have a lot of fun!!

fuck the dress matey.... just get one that you will wear again.... your leathers would be fine!!!.... actully you would look good in them ... if i remeber correctly...........

what does Tim ride..... was going to be rude there.. but as you are not married............... :pinch:

Tigger
3rd February 2005, 10:58
Yes, the last black eye was from the grading, a well known 'kicker' in the club(better not mention his name here) and I should have kept my guard up. But it was fight no. 38 and I was tired.....

Tim has an FJR1300, which I was threatening to take for a ride yesterday (now that I can - whoohoo!), only to find that I can't get my toes on the ground and can't push it out of the garage. Oh.
