Just asking, like, but what is the definition of a scooter vis a vis

a bike ? Is it having gears, or the design of the chassis (leg over or

leg through) or what. And are there any hybrids between the two genres?

A motorbike is two wheels and a engine between your legs.

A scooter is two wheels and an engine up ya bum.

definition of scooters = FUN

most underated vehicles on the road - dont just think of 50cc things the new 200 GT Vespa is a great ride.
Stylish, quick, fun, quiet, and you get around with dry legs and feet on rainy days.

I restore some of the old ones and they are cheap and relatively easy to get bits for. ANd they subscribe to the KISS theory.

With the honda cub the motor is in front ,The Ariel has a kind of leg in and over design. So who knows. When you see a scooter you know what your looking at.I reckon that five hundred cc fuel
injected one has got to be a blast.
So whats the definision of a motorcycle ???

The Gilera Runner is more like a bike than a scooter to look at
swing leg over seat to get on but is 180cc Auto while the DNA model looks like a little Italian race bike but has a scooter power unit - 180cc or 50cc. The tradional lines are certainly blurred.

All good stuff because tradional lines of thought need to be challenged.

Define a scooter?
you'll know one when you see one. they are very practical and have little wheels and fat like little pigs really. the riders prefer open face helmets with clear full visors. and usually the rider wears hush puppy shoes and crimpoline trousers and puffer jackets. When you wave they never wave back cause they can't figure out why your doing it.

Most scooterists are purely practical persons who would rather be in a car but recognise the practicallity of two wheels.

Liv, I love your scooter. How long does a tankful of petrol last? What modifications have you made?

Liv, is that a tow ball on the back?!?

My Racing Bike:

Spman:
Yes, you're right: 2hp! And maximum speed is 47km/h downhill! :D

twistymover:
I get 3.5 litres in the petrol tank, and I can ride for 4 hours! I have no idea how many kilometres that is, but I know it's a ride to the local MC-cafè and home twice; do I need to know more? :p

Starkey:
Yes; that's a tow ball! :niceone:

I have not done any modification to make it go faster, I only did what you can see:
The exhaust decoration, light on my ''trailer/hanger'', the tow ball, and some red lights on the wheels; Tire Flys.

Do you get the funny thing about the trailer/hanger?
Kleshenger, henger = clothes-hanger.
Tilhenger, henger = a trailer.
Tilhengerfeste = tow ball.
So: I got a hanger on my tow ball! :D

My mum gave me The Racing Bike when I was 16 years old, and he (my bikes are ''he''!) is 24 years old. So that makes me.... hmmm.... Ooops! Am I that old!?

Now now Wicked One! Be nice to Liv. We should look for the good in everything. It may not have a K&N Filter or Race Tech Gold Valves, but her scooter has charm and character where as your food processor and hedge trimmer do not.

Possibly - but a picture of the Scarver would be more desireable.

I can't see the point of putting a 2hp engine on a bike and making it road legal - on that basis an 8hp gokart should be?

PS - with all the fruity bits on that scooter if wouldn't surprise me if it DID have a K&N, Power Commander, Jet Kit, Harris Billet Rearsets (don't need them but so what).

Well no, I wouldn't want to upset him. But wkid_one does seem to be gradually replacing the R1 with the evergrowing number of bits listed under his posts. So what will it look like eventually, one might ask?( in the nicest possible way).

Hahaha....actually - the intention is the bike remains looking identical....

Obviously the fork internals, K&N and jet kit are completely unobservable - as will be the Power Commander and Velocity Stacks.

Eventually, the new paint job, rims and

The aim is to gradually get the bike ready to race.....

Yes, I am envious too. I almost bought one. The Scarver has some practical features and I like that colour scheme. You look very affectionate towards your bike. I wish someone would hug me like that.
