Well, if I had to I'd start riding at 5.30am or so - Marcus is doing the trackday so should be able to use a car with a towball.

Sounds like a good back up if you've got the spare space. I'm sure that we will be able to get a garage though. There's heaps of them and they're only $50 each for MotoTT customers, I believe.
I'll probably get there at just before 9, and will come look for you and your Duc around then.

What an awesome day!
After some dramas with my engine at Puke a month ago I finally got it back together last sat arvo, did coro loop sunday to settle it in an put it on trailer for taupo.
What I wanted to achieve at Taupo was more corner speed..
Group 3 for the first session(previous T/D'S i was happy in 4 lol)
Did a session was rapt with how I went so decided group 2 may be in order..
Did the rest of the day in 2 an had a ball...
Well i'm heaps faster cornering now....ended up all over the arse of the thou's into and through the corners slipped back a little on the straights but if I hung in there a ususally got past if close enough.
To the guy on the Gixxer thou in the blue suzi leathers and the dude on the Yellow suzi (Bandit i think)...man did we have some fun dont know how many times we passed each other.
The guys on the ZX10 two up...that slide I did next to you,my mate caught it on video...you hide me from the camera for most of it but you get the idea....Anyone know how I can contact them?
Thanks Motott for another great day...

yellow sv650s, that was me. :)
As usual, it was an excellent day, and I'm totally tired out now.
I did 727.7km total on saturday, 171.5 of them on the track, the rest to and from Auckland. On the way down I went via Matamata, on the way back through Hamilton (not SH1b) which I haven't done in ages, they were 293km and 295km respectively (Titirangi to Taupo). I'm not sure how the times compared, but I think I prefer the Hamilton route, nicer (less boring) roads.
I'd sharpened my footpegs to give me more grip and was experimenting with weighting the outside peg for the first and second sessions. At the start of the second session, before going onto the track, I realised my throttle grip had moved on the tube, since they're heated grips, I was worried about the wire interfering with the brake lever. DMNTD mentioned cable ties which I hadn't thought of, so I went back and stuck several cable ties over the grip before starting the session a bit late. It did the job for that session, but the cable ties were annoying, so at lunch I got some superglue from BP and glued the grip on with that which fixed it.
Third session instead of concentrating on which peg I was weighting, and not being distracted by cable ties on the grip, I just focused on riding. It wasn't till the 4th session that I felt like I was 'tuned in', but even then I wasn't hitting the apexes or holding my line as well as I'd like. I did a bit of work on braking later and harder. Also tried 29psi in both tyres, only had one small slip in session 2 (although it was in Turn 8!).
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uiN_ZZcg-Vs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uiN_ZZcg-Vs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I don't know how much the 29psi helped in the other corners, maybe I just wasn't giving it enough gas in the other corners to make it slip.
There was a guy on a red Aprilia RSV that seemed like he was pushing himself a bit much in the first couple of sessions at least. Twitching in the corners etc. If that's you, take it easier next time, work on riding smoother. Maybe step down a group.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next one. :)
Here's a few photos I took between yellow group sessions:

Had a great ride down, albeit frozen hands by the time we got to taupo at 11.30 friday night lol. Ride back last night took a bit longer as we stopped in tokoroa, hamilton, narawahia & meremere, meremere just for a visor clean. Glad we took the 'muck off' visor cleaner & a flannel in my mini glove box, was handy indeed!! Headlight looks like a bug graveyard!! Awesome first 'long' ride for Fireball & myself. 570k's all up.
Great day at the track (first time I'd been back to a track since puke in march), managed to get wind & sunburnt but not bad lol :)
Look forward to next time :woohoo: might have to actually get out on the track in the slow group im thinking (esp after seeing the scooters out there lol!!)

Cheers again to MotoTT for the day (and the FREE trackday for next time!!! Haha, stoked!!)
Had heaps of things to test and was a bit unsure of the bike for the first couple of sessions:
First time on Metzeler Racetechs
First time in over a year on new, unshagged tyres
First time in over a year using a 180 rear
First time with new Racetech internals just fitted by Robert Taylor
First time this year riding without the back up of a steering damper
…but by 3rd session I had a new PB of 1:38.5 without really pushing it too much. Stoked with that!
Bike was handling MILES better than it ever has, and grip was in abundance. Heaps of improvement to come, especially in the infield where after I got tired I was slowing my transitions down big time by using the bars to pull myself back over instead of my legs.
Lesson of the day being that race bike geometry really does need a steering damper! Even on a mostly smooth track. In the 4th session I Decided I was on a pretty hot lap after I’d gotten through the A1 corner so thought I’d push for a PB. Got a good line through the sweeper and with a fair bit of confidence in the rear grip of the 180 by now, I jammed the gas on hard when almost upright for a mean drive. Not a hint of rear wheelspin but the front did not like the bumps on the exit near the edge of the track and I ended up both feet off the pegs and arse off the seat barely able to hold on to the side of the seat with my boot. Not pretty but kept it up and ended the day happy :)
Hopefully get the front end sorted so that I’m not bottoming out in the corners and chewing tyres, then bring on Wanganui!!!

Good shit mate..............gonna have to keep an eye on you:confused:

As always....great day Motott....you guys run a really tight ship! I had fun although didn't achieve what I wanted too for the day...felt a bit flat to be honest. Here is a vid of a couple of laps..excuse the angle of the camera...its on the piss!
Pfft I let you pass me ! I was the first bike on your video Motard.
I had a good day to spent the day testing out the mods done the day before hand, new Carb jets n needles and a few adjustments here and there, the bike was alot snappier on the throttle, I still need a Akropovic system to get another 7 hp out of it (currently 45.5hp) before the tri series.
Other than that played with suspension a fair bit and the last session I had a Taupo setting soughted (I think) certainly felt better with less bogging in the corners.
I have to say one thing about it all, Motards in the Fast group is not a choice so some of you super fast sportsbikes need to get the fuck over it and give us a bit of room when passing us, on at least two occasions I got cut up (big time) on that fast back corner due to unwillingness to make room or slow down a bit for a squlliy second, you are way faster on the straight bits so a bit more space would be nice as its only a trackday, even if I do beat may of you on the corners;)

Cheers Tony, don’t know if I can find another 3 seconds to be able to hang with you on that track, but there’s definitely more to come out of this CBR6 if I can step it up :niceone:

The bloke on the thou with the Suzi leathers was me, I had a blast, but was riding REAL ragged, only got 2 hours sleep due to a barking dog next door  which pissed me no end, and meant I was fading really badly, and not able to concentrate fully, but, still, it was a good day, and I hope to get better next time, more sleep allowing.
I look forward to more MotoTT days, finances allowing.......

I like motards...they make me feel fast :-)

There was a guy on a red Aprilia RSV that seemed like he was pushing himself a bit much in the first couple of sessions at least. Twitching in the corners etc. If that's you, take it easier next time, work on riding smoother. Maybe step down a group.]
If you are talking about the big guy in the alpinestar leathers on the Black (with a little red ) RSV then that was me. It was my first outing on a track ever after a very serious off 2yrs ago. I was told to go in the group 2. Thanks for your concern and offers of support/assistance.
On a not sarcastic note, Choppa thanks a lot man. I learned a lot, thanks for the encouragement and advice. I improved a lot over the course of the day, thanks also to Alex, Morrie, Dmnted and the other people who helped out. Awesome. tHANKS.

I don't think it was you. The bike had high twin pipes and a red tail, I think the guy was wearing two piece Shift cordura gear.
Thanks for your concern and offers of support/assistance.

I was a little concerned the guy was pushing himself too hard, but I didn't think he'd appreciate some stranger coming up to him and saying he looks like he's pushing himself too hard and should slow down a bit, take it easier.

I think on the contrary !
Know i would appreciate any constructive criticism !
In fact a nice gentleman gave me some good advice on friday !
If i remember rightly some of the sentence included words like fat, lazy, arse, off, seat ! To mention but a few !
Funnily enough after that piece of advice, the wallow i was feeling in the bike and trying to adjust out of the suspention all morning went away !
