I saw one in Paris that looked almost identical to the second one pictured (the '70s model).
But the other one looks very nice.

ask Big Dave. I just read today that he was test riding the latest CB1000. He should have a clue or two as to whether the 500 are around or not.

And like Viffer said, I've seen them overseas, but I can't say I ever spotted one here.

Not seen one here but they are hugely popular in the UK, my rather wealthy mate flatly refused to trade his up he loved it so much. Excellent bike. :niceone:

Also, there was a CB600f ? gorgeous thing with a slightly detuned Hornet engine, haven't seen any of those either, both superb mid range bikes.

Did Bluewing ever import the 600 Hornet new? The ones I've seen for sale have always been grey imports.

So, the answer is "no" then.

They don't even import parts for the bikes sold here, until someone orders them.
"UH.... sorry - that's not in stock. Three weeks, ex-Japan. Please pay up front."

Bluewing Honda have always decided what the NZ public wants from the Honda lineup. It seldom matches what would actually sell, apart from the CRF range.

The new CB500 is an obvious competitor to the Versys/ER6 range, and GS500, and has the added bonus of much better build quality than either. The CBF600 would do well, but I rather think Bluewing don't want to try and compete with the Bandit's aggressive pricing.

The new Hornet 600 is coming, but it kind of stands alone in price and spec, except for the Street Triple, which is probably a more emotional purchase.

It's a shame about not getting the CB500 or CBF600 in NZ, but they wouldn't be able to compete with the pricing for the GS500, or Bandit. The new Hornet 600 is about $16k. That's a heck of a lot more than an SV650 or GSR600, and on par with a GSXR600.

I'd consider a Hornet for $12k.
