View Full Version : Martial Art Classes. Bujinkan NZ Ninjutsu.

Bujinkan NZ recently started its newest class in Point Chev Auckland around March 2004.
While Bujinkan has many members throughout NZ, the Pt Chev dojo is quite small with only 3 full time students which peaked to around 5-6 throughout 2004. Our sensei is keen for the class to grow as we all benifit by training with different body shapes, sizes & strengths.
Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu (NINJA).
Learning Ninjutsu is very different to the usual martial arts such as Karate, Kung Fu, Tai Kwon Do etc etc.....we are not fixed on kicking & punching, it is more self defence as opposed to attacking where you use your attackers strength against them with throws, locks, breaks, grabs, aswell as weapon training right down to a piece of rope and much more. There is no full contact training as this would result in many broken limbs so this is not suited for aggro peope who just wanna get in a fight. There are no sex, age or size restrictions but young kids may have trouble with alot of the techniques and very unfit people may struggle to keep up but otherwise if your interested in a bit of fun and want to learn some neat party tricks you should come along.
I have only graded to green belt which is one step from white so I am no expert and I would advise you check the site below if you are interested or just come along and see for yourself.
More info at http://carbon.zehym.com/kiwidojos/index.htm
Currently all students at Pt Chev are motorcyclist, we got an R6, KRR150 and a GN250 (and Sensei did have a KR1 but no longer) and thats why I thought id see if any KBers were interested.
Arven has used his break roll technique learnt through Ninjutsu to readily
avoid injury when he falls off his MX bike so you too may learn something to benifit your riding?!?!
Who? When? Cost? Where?

This dojo has a pretty crap site with lots of pop ups so I have noted the critical info for ya.
website http://bujinkan.co.nz/home/
e-mail bujinkannz@hotmail.com
Dojo location is Wellington Arts Centre, Oriental Parade.
Main class is held on Thursdays from 8-10pm.
Let me know if you end up giving it a go, we would possibly end up training togther at an annual seminar at some stage.
Are you sure you dont want to commute to Auckland each Wednesday night?

Do you know Sensei Ogle? He does some form of Ninjutsu over the Shore. He seems to be my daughters boyfriend and has been living with us since Xmas Eve.He's only 23 or so and his life reads like a pilot for some TV series,a bit mysterious, but he seems a genuine nice guy.I know we have taken him on in our family as one of ours, but he has returned the favour wholeheartedly, putting more into living with us than I would expect.Jason is handy to have around, helping in the big boi racer prang - and late last night I broke a glass in the kitchen, then walked out side...I met him their walking around swinging a stick ''thought I heard a noise'' he said.Nice to have him around in West Auckland...

Cool!
Im holding you to it aswell so if you dont show....ya might not want
to attend the next KB ride or ill have to kick your arse!
(Naaa, I suck and your bigger than me).
If anyone decides to show up, Id recommend you wear breathable clothing and bring a drink cause its damn hot at the mo. Try to arrive around 6:50 at the latest.
Dont expect too much straight away either, ninjutsu takes time to master so things may seem pretty weak and pissless at the start but eventually get better and feel practical.

Training starts at 7:00pm so be there by 6:50 at the latest.
Address and all details are listed on the first post.
First class is free.
Its not exactly a workout but bring a drink due to this crazy heat.

What about the Bo and Hanbo?
Atomic
22nd March 2005, 09:04
Yeah but the way in which the Hanbo, Jo & Bo are used is a bit more technical than merely "swinging it around".

Oh - I see what you were meaning.
I trained with Maai Hyoshi Dojos about 9 years ago. Had a bit of a break and just started with another Dojo about 6 months ago. So back to a rank beginner.
I'm thinking about tagging along to your one as well to get another night of training in.
How many regulars have you got now? You mentioned a few in an ealrier post.

A big fat maybe...
Got to find something to do indoors when the weather gets bad. That probably won't be for a few more months...

We just had a brown belt from another class move into the area so he is joining us on a wednesday night bringing numbers up to 4 students....however Mike decided to total his R6 and shatter his ankle so we are back to 3.
Might seeya tomorrow night then.

I recommend the Otahuhu class (im sure the Ponsonby class is fine though) because it is run by the head sensei of kiwi dojos so you will learn alot. Otahuhu us usually the largest class.

Maybe on a wednesday or maybe on thursday with Aff-Man?
Make it the wednesday if you can because we need numbers.

I just started with DnT last night, got thumb nail marks down all the disabling pressure points on my right arm and a swollen wrist, but it was good fun. I'll see how I go for a while, but Wednesdays would be good as the other night we have available is Friday, which is usually reserved for reversing a week's hard work by drinking...

I know this is an old thread ... but for the benefit of anyone who is interested in MA ... don't have anything to do with Jason Ogle. I detailed my encounter with him in Taken in by a con-man (http://www.solopassion.com/node/1268). He's a nasty piece of work all right. He cropped up a while back on Bullshido (http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=66829) as well.

Yeah, there are a few people like that out there. Dunno what it is that drives it - just seems like some people just lie for the sheer thrill of making others believe in what isn't true, no matter how trivial the falacy. And thankfully most of the time it's matter of little consequence that these individuals lie about. However, that feeling of not being able to trust someone completely is, for me at least, impossible to come to terms with.
But that story about Ogle digging a 12' grave for his own credibility using novelty KGB IDs is just fucking priceless. :niceone:

Mikkel, There is Sensei Shidoshi Blair in Wellington, i believe he holds 2 classes a week. I'm with the Kiwi Dojo's Bujinkan, and yes we're licensed under the Bujinkan umbrella with Sensei Masaaki Hatsumi (grand master in Japan). Try www.kiwidojos.co.nz I myself have been practicing for 4 years, and and i'v trained with Sensei Blair. He's one of the best i'v seen, plus he makes it a regular commitment to go to Japan to train under the supervision of the grandmast to continue to excell. One great piece of work he is.
I know of only 2 current kiwidojo bujinkan practioners other than myself that ride motorbikes, and it's always good to have new interested people. Maybe i'll see you up in Auckland for the seminar with Sensei Natasha from Japan! :)

We knew him... we started a business with him, Lazer Tag in Hamilton. He took everything. He disappeared.
We invested a lot of money with him.
We have been trying to track him down for a long time. We were friends with him when he went to Waikato University, he stayed with us for a bit too. He has some crazy stories to tell. He told us he knew aikido, he trained police officers and he was also a paramedic. He could speak fluent Japanese, very clever but how much of it is lies I don't know. Very likeable guy. If anyone knows where Jason Ogle/ Jason Gray is ... I would like to know what happened!
