Only ever used c-clip chains, how do you remove rivet type chains?

Sounds like you've not got or seen a chain breaker. If that's the case, go nuts with any tool you see fit... bolt cutters, dremel, hacksaw, hammer and chisel, whatever. Of course, you could buy a chain breaker from a bike shop :)

What he said,

In Leu of chain breakers or Big ass bolt cutters i tend to grind off one side of the rivets flat then use a nice punch to drive the link out the other side.

Chain breaker or angle grinder here. If you are going to put another rivet type on (and I'd recommend it) you'll need a side plate press or somethig similar to get the new one on anyway.

Justy be aware that, unlike C-clip links, once you've bashed the rivet link off, you can't put it back! So you need a new rivet link, and yet another new tool to rivet the new link on. This, we are told, is progress.

a mate came around with his grinder so i took it off with that. Easy as. Only on a 250 atm so i think ill just use the clip for convenience.
