I'm still waiting to see and try a 848. They are no where to be seen down here, or at least, I've been out of luck to find one :(

That's a beauty! Love it!
I've promised my self not to test ride one. Because I know, if I try one, I'm going to sell the house, car, cat, dog whatever it takes to get one. And then I'll race it. And then I'll be broke.

Chris you fucking skite bastard.
And my advice to you young man is do anything you can to get everything you want.
I saw the 1098s and thought it was the most beautiful bike id ever seen (apart from the desmocideci) so i said to my wife write down 10 things you want me to do for you before i get this bike, she did and i did 9 of them the 10th item on the list is still pending....so she was happy and i was real happy when i picked it up.
The 1098 is a special bike and will undoubtely become a classic and a bike that saved Ducati when they look back years from now.

There's a 916 c/w Termignonis at Energy Honda. Be more affordable than a new 1098. You'd look cool parking that outside school.
OK, OK, I know, just teasing...

Looks a bit like a new version of the 916 to me. So Ducati went backwards to go forwards........................well it's a shit load better then the 999.
I'd have one.

It's all down to the designer - The 916, 748, 996 & 998 were from the pen of Massimo Tamburini. The 749 and 999 came from Pierre Terreblanche.
The majority of Ducatisti didn't like the look of the 749 or 999 (although they are very capable bikes!) so sales dropped and the 916 esque bikes held their value so Ducati went back to Massimo (who was working for MV Agusta I believe) and asked him to draw their next series of bikes.
The 1098 and 848 were born.

Not quite, the 1098 was designed by newcomer Giandrea Fabbro, although clearly inspired by Tamburini.
