Loose headset bearing

Had headset bearing replaced not long ago, came loose after ~150 - 200ks.

It had a washer with locking tabs between the two nuts rather than just binding the two nuts together, have removed that now and tweaked the nuts together. Is this a good enough long term fix?

I think as long as it doesnt come loose as it was with the previous arrangment it should be ok, right?

It only came loose because it was NOT tightened correctly in the first place dude, go look at how it SHOULD be assembled, and re do it as per the manual in terms of assembly of the parts.

You need the full front of the bike off the ground. so you can tighten bearings and turn bars left to right very slowly, whilst tightening and fealing the drag on the unit as you turn bars l-r, just like a wheel bearing really

So from what your saying i shouldnt leave it as just the two nuts and should put the washer back in?

The guy that did the job (and he is an experienced bike mechanic) reakons it would be ok without it, and blamed it for the reason it loosened in the first place, the way he explained it made sense to me.

Also i know it was tightened with the front end up and un-weighted, not sure if bars were turned but would have thought so.

All Good. I was Not trying to say it would not work! I guess I replied with my YOU should do it as per Head on, as this is the net and a lot of Sh---- Stuff gets said.
