View Full Version : Rep abuse.

The Pastor

Firstly I apologize for any rep abuse I've given out. Ive been on the site for a while, and probably given out some rep that people have taken seriously.

The rep system is being abused, by posting abuse at people.

I don't actually care what someone says about me on the internet but its growing tiresome having a page of "drop dead" or "im going to smack you one next time i see you" every time i log onto kb

Whats the benefit of the rep? none, but it is fun.

Maybe somehow we can get an option of not putting in a comment on the rep? or not on the negative rep - its not needed really.

I believe you are right, never have given a red and only ever received one, always put a comment on though just to let the other know how or why I feel they deserve the green.

Some people like the fact they can hide behind a keyboard and abuse others with little or no recrimination, somehow these same folks end up with some role of self importance on various boards and let that go to their heads as if it validates them, in reality these folks have little or nothing to offer and would make perfect politicians.

No Rep option , lol like that will work within KB where half the members are complete rep hunters and gatherers, not to mention the many involved in daily rep mustering groups to get there rep level up as high as possible quickly to satisfy their ego...............kinda like the mentor programe.
get rid of it and squash half the threads numbers overnight:niceone:

Ha ha ha. Now that IS the pot calling the kettle black. All we need now is III coming along protesting his innocence and I thinks we'll have the set. This is normally a troll I would just ignore, but its such a good example in this case, I'll point it out.

Here we have one of the perpetrators turning the blame upon one of the people HE abused. It's a widely used tactic to remove the focus of blame from them and suggest that the victim is in fact responsible for the altercation.

Another tactic used by abusers on this forum, is to intentionally fill the thread with so much off-topic noise or mock abuse (hey we were just having fun) so that the original poster has no opportunity to discuss their topic. Usually they continue until the thread gets PD'ed then they can relax again - mission accomplished.

Moderators aren't lawyers or psychologists, so how the hell they are supposed to diagnose crap like this is beyond me.

I do think its pretty clear who these people are.

The way some members award rep is often an indicator of their level of maturity and their ability to construct a cogent and meaningful statement. If people disagree with something another member has posted and the best they can offer as a riposte is "fuck you cunt", or similar bogan sentiment, that actually speaks volumes. Personally I would like to see people prompted to contribute some explanation with the rep they distribute, rather than merely clicked red or green. Surely it can't be that hard to articulate succinctly as to why one may have been moved to award rep.

On a personal note, I never click red.

Not quite, I generally don't give out abusive reds[and i probably wont again], more like "hahahahahhahahaha" or "have a nice day". and personally im not worried what people say about me - my rep page is pretty like a chirstmas tree. But its just a negative part of kb that would easily be fixed or toned town by removing the comments.

The reds i give are usally a joke, i.e if somone is having a cry about a red rep, or how they never get red or are just being stupid i'll give them a stupid rep.

Its annoying, i dont like coming home after being at work all day (its harder when you dont email me btw) and seeing how many people want me to die.

As long as there's no misunderstanding then. And here is another example, where a member uses the technique of a deliberate misunderstanding to point the finger away from him, onto someone else. After this, he is quickly using up all his available options before simply resorting to abuse, unless he can quickly enroll some backup abuse from elsewhere, or troll me into breaking a site rule for which I get reprimanded.

Surely it can't be that hard to articulate succinctly as to why one may have been moved to award rep.I would like to suggest you are wasting your time with that. I think the moderators energy would be far better spent singling these people out and applying some consequence to said member.

I has also become clear to me, that many, if not most bikers are bogans, and thats how these people communicate. I'm not about imposing my lifestyle on them, but conversely they must understand they cannot impose their lifestyle upon me. If I AM guilty of imposing my lifestyle upon them, then fair enough lets hear the objection. We're all different.

All (most?) of my forum infringements are from taking umbrage after abuse and ridicule was directed at me. Perhaps am justified and perhaps I am not, and I am prepared to be taken to task on that, but for the perpetrators to walk away laughing and do it some more, only to be widely celebrated as heroes by their mates is disgusting, and for this to be allowed by forum owners and moderators speaks volumes about their character.

Make the change, KB, and grow up.

All (most?) of my forum infringements are from taking umbrage after abuse and ridicule was directed at me.

You have to remember that people dont ridicule people at random - there are reasons for it.

The fact that you get ridiculed by so many shows the number of comments you make that people find ridiculous.

People arnt born 'victims' but they feel they are when in fact they are a creation of their own doing. Yet they continue to look to blame others for it.

Me thinks that it is you who should make the change and grow up.
