Thinking of buying a MV 750 s4

Hi Guys,
I am seriously considering a second hand Mv Agusta 750 2001- 2005 for my next bike. Has anyone owned/ ridden one and what are your thoughts? What are servicing costs like? any known problems? I have heard that rear sprokets are horrendosly expensive? Any comments or info would be appreciated.

Everything on those bikes i horrendeously expensive, if you want to own an mv, which are some of the most beautiful bikes inthe world, make sure you have the income to support it.

Parts are expensive, purely because they are exotic bikes and also waiting for parts takes a while as they get shipped in from italy.

The 750's are nice, they are going for less than I expected too on turdme

I rode one for half a day or so. It was conspicuously well set up and absolutely fucking awesome. Bottom end torque is nothing to write home about, the turning circle is shocking ...but as soon as you get moving the feel of the thing is absolutely incredible. Something like expensive, solid and it makes it made it clear what an abysmal rider I actually am.

No practicality whatsoever. Get one.

It might be worth talking to someone that actually owns one or works for a dealership - I wouldn't be suprised if parts weren't as expensive as some would have you believe. I could be talking shit of course, but have found Ducati parts to be quite reasonably priced, yet still hear stories of how expensive they are from people that actually have no idea.

Why not? ;) If you have got to the stage where you are familiar with run-of-the-mill bikes and want something special - do it. Frankly that's why I bought a Ducati - it was an itch that had to be scratched. And now I'm in love with the damned thing. :love:

Yeah that was sort of the whole purpose of tis thread was to get opinions from people who do have them.. does anyone know someone on here who does?

But what I want to know is what part of owning them is expensive. Parts or general maintanence? Am I going to have to sell a kidney for just a standard service? does the oil filter/ air filter/ sprokets have to be hand delivered by a sexy young italian lady in tight hotpants (I would probably pay the extra anyway if that was the case & get a service every month)or can I buy them off the shelf so to speak.
Or if something breaks will have to put my first born on trade me to pay for it expensive, there is a big difference between the two above.

I have loved the mv s4 since they first came out and have always wanted one, will very soon be in the position to get one(have been trying to convince the minister of finances i.e. wife that I really need a 1000r but it aint workin) so am looking at other options. I do however want to go in with my eyes open and know what I am getting myself in for.

Maintenance: Not much more expensive at all. Things like oil filters etc prolly only cost $15-$20 more and obviously oil is oil.

Parts: Yep...sell the kids if certain things go...damn it!
Had the rear wheel bearing go on my Brutale-R which also damaged the housing. I've I didn't manage to wiggle a warranty claim it would've been a little over $4000.00 to sort out :doh:

Please understand that I do not want to put you off...just make you aware.
Have a proper check done on whatever bike you buy and get a full service history to ensure that everything has been sorted

I wonder if the "If you can't afford a brand new European Car, you can't afford a European Car" principle applies? I know a Mate who started out loving his Aprilia, but after a couple of years of ownership, and thousands later, LOVES his GSX1400, and the value it provides.
