Nasty stuff.

I'm not one to normally complain about the wind, but I've been to work and come home again this morning and it's the worst riding conditions in Wellington in 20 years of riding around here.

Seriously consider staying at home if you're on a bike or thinking of taking a van somewhere.

I concur!! Drove home from town about half an hour ago, bloody hell! Bugger being on a bike today! There were 3 vans stopped on the side of the motorway, shit blowing all over the road, jets of water flying up into the air from the sea and the truck we were following for a bit was definitely struggling!! I gotta drive out to the Hutt for an exam soon..... I hope I make it!!!

It's a nasty swirling high speed Northerly. Heading South, it's no trouble. Heading North is challenging.

I concur too. I had to go over Haywards to Naenae to the Hutt and back again and I have never felt anything like it - ever.

The biggest bang was totally unexpected about 500m short of Haywardfs going East on SH2 motorway. It's the first time i've ever thought I might loose it in the wind.

Stay home.

Been out in the van with the tandem trailer. Didn't have to much of an issue due to the extra weight - but I know of one fool who's gone to Paraparaumu on his bike...

Funny you say that. You might think that not having windows in the garage might have saved us. Unfortunately not. We think this happened when or after the roller door blew in. My flatmate got some good pics after the fix-it job, too.

Edit: got no beer, I'm off out, I may be gone a while. :apint:

I'm just hoping my bike doesn't fall over! It is parked up the side of my building - so far so good. Sirens have been going all day = I live two doors down from the fire brigade. Definitely not a good day to be out on the bike.

Mate that is not funny - great day for my birthday eh!

Its not the worst storm we've had in our suburb, nothing beats that 18 hour pearler we had that August about 4 years ago when it brought all the trees down, roads were blocked, trains stopped, but luckily that time it was a week day so we didn't go to work, but damn this is Saturday and only guys like J2 go into work on a Saturday.

I'm on holiday in Nelson (live in Kapiti Wellington) and it's windy and crap here too but I notice there are a LOT of cruisers and social groups still out and about. Are cruisers better in the wind? Low C.O.V and all that?
I haven't a clue how to ride in the wind. When the gusts hit me on the VTR it feels like the bike is weightless or has disappeared out from under me !! Horrible feeling.
One time I was hit so hard by wind on the Rimutaka’s it stood the bike up mid corner and almost sent me over the edge.

Chalk and cheese. Saturday and Sunday. Saturday: uber crap; Sunday: awesomeness. Saturday: pouting at the window, bottom lip quivering. Sunday: big grin hooning it to Riversdale and back. If that Big Yamaha isn't back soon, I'm going to be forced to buy myself something naked. Forced. It's just not natural.

Naked is natural Hitch, let it all hang out I say!
Wind is unrestricted when naked, as my old Mommy says...

Where ever you are
Where ever you be
Let your wind go free!
