Got some second hand tyres for my car (old suzuki 4wd) how hard would it be to fit the tyres myself using a bench vice to break the bead and improvising something as tyre levers. Doable or not worth the effort?

Why did this get moved from the wheels and tyres section to here? Granted its not for my bike but its still pretty relevant to wheels and tyres

No biggie, I assume they are tubeless. If a tube is required, dont pinch (puncture) it when fitting tyre on the rim.
A bit of soapy water helps things...
Just pretend its just a bycycle wheel...but bigger...

Tube tyres and rims would be possible...not nice, but certainly doable.I served my apprenticeship doing puntures with no tyre machine...car and truck. But tubless will be almost impossible to break the bead on.

There may be a mod that believes this is a motorcycle site, if its not about motorcycles... its off topic...

A 5 pound hammer, hit the tyre at the right place will break the bead. Or a G clamp. Or run over the tyre with another car can do it...

couldnt be arse with the effort your still going to have to go get them balanced after anyway just pay the $10-$20 less stress and effort required.

So if I can break the bead its plain sailing after that? And is balancing really necessary on a vehicle that rarely exceeds the speed limit and rattles and shakes anyway.

Are tyres really necessary? ;)

Not worth the effort

I'd be interested in seeing you make any of those methods work within a reasonable timespan

A 5 pound hammer might work if you're using a wedge otherwise I can't see it happening

Breaking the bead is the hardest part, but if they're tubelss be careful you don't damage the bead or they won't seal, balancing you wont know until you drive it, mostly you'll notice it around the 50kmh or 80kmh mark
