Just got upgraded to vodafone "red" their new network. Seems ok to me (though I'm sure telstra cable customers in wellywood will titter).

Old man is thinking of using soon, how do these speedtest figures stack up with other networks?

Wah. Nice. I'm still on an iHug grandfathered plan, it would cost more to change to a `proper' Vodafone plan (having to combine calls/internet is what kills it). But looking at those figures, I'm considering doing the sums again :D

That's hot. I'm on TelstraClear cable, and Speedtest.net just clocked me at 1583:717. That's a bit down on "normal" which is often closer to 4000:2000.

Vodafone decided that they didn't want our business .. so we left and found that moving to Telecom we have at least a $50 a month saving .. so thanks to vodafones rude CSRs we save shitloads of money and dont' give them any anymore!

I'm on woosh 3G wifi, it's consistently too slow for my liking. Today welly to auckland 521:65 20 gigs a month for $60, no phoneline. If vdf can beat that i'm in.

Wireless is pants. Telecoms rev A wasn't too bad last time i used it but you had to be in just the right place to get good enough reception.

Anyone know of anyone offering naked DSL? I'm so over paying $40 for a phone....

sounds so easy huh?

3 times within 6 months Vodafone managed to fail at pulling money out of my credit card, despite it being set up on VCC. 3 VCC forms later, they finally had the details. Third time they failed, they simply said the system didn't charge me. HUH?! (If my customers gave me all the details, and said charge when needed... well, I wouldn't fail at charging them)

Vodafone pisses me off fantastically. I asked them over a month ago to merge two sims, as I couldn't charge two accounts through VCC to ONE credit card (unfathomable restriction). The merge has not been done. Now they tell me they forgot to tell me certain things, and I should have been asked to fill in forms.

If I moved to having a data plan on my main sim (one sim is purely a data sim) it would cost $10 more per month, for the exact same thing.

I also know people have had major issues with Vodafone not following through on directives when switching them to their internet (ie, wait a period otherwise I incur a cancellation charge)... so I'm not giving Vodafone a chance to fuck up even more.

It seems mine could be a bit better as well. The upload has always been slow, really noticeable with youtube. Vodafone have been making all sorts of interesting offers. We've had two guys dropping by with offers.

Was listening to a tech media commentator the other day and he was commenting (funnily enough) that the smaller players have always been better for performance in NZ but he thinks this will start to change about now with the investment the bigger players can make with the whole unbundling saga........ interesting times.

Orcon do, but only in certain exchanges. If they haven't put a box in yours, then you're SOL.

Jrandom is right... Orcon have it. Check for availability in your area by going to this address: http://www.orcon.net.nz/orconathome/

(ironically, you'll still need a phone number). It will tell you whether you are in an area with a new exchange or an old.

Unbundling... where should I start. its a joke for the last 4 years. (I have the inside line) And Telecom has turned it into a game of you peeps can pay for my stinky poo while I go and spend your money to beat you at the game. And also turning it into a game of have and have nots. So you want a company who musles their compition around? Well wait till they do that to you.

Telecom brain wash their employees. and Vodafone is a joke for customer service and providing what the customer really wants.

As terrible as this sounds, Telecom has actually picked up its game over the last couple of years, and isn't as bad as it was (am I defending Telecom? :puke:).

Ironically, the unbundling is actually providing more complications and less freedom than before. Yes, there are more options, however, your choice in the matter is more restricted.

Hear hear Zapf.

Doesnie matter how fast your upload/download is...as soon as you try getting data packets off this island it all turns to chocolate.

Sick of vodafone telling me I'm in an excellent coverage area when the reality is a 50/50 chance of getting cut off due to signal fade.
