Nothing says "wake the fuck up mooron" like air horns. I been wanting them on my bike since i started riding but was told that a bike wasn't set up to handle them. Guess i was misinformed. Look out now cagers. :devil2:

Yeah, it's sometimes hard to find places to fit extra bits on a bike, especially if it's covered in plastic. I fitted an extra horn to the VFR750 I had, and had to put it under the left-side mid fairing panel. Then I reinstalled the new R/R under the headstock where the horn goes, so I had to relocate that horn as well. I had them both connected to a relay wired directly to the battery (with a fuse), and they were, "OWW!! Don't do that again, Dad!" loud.

The standard horn button and wiring aren't up to supplying a decent blast on any horn, so a relay and heavier gauge wiring are a must.

The VifFerraRi's horn is a pathetic squeaker of a thing, so I'd like to upgrade it too, but I'm unlikely to do so. Why don't bike makers put decent horns on? :spudwhat: The CB350 I used to ...err... 'borrow' had a great big chromed 'snail' type horn, that let out a decent BLAARRRP! not like the mouse-squeak of the modern Japanese bike. :argh:

The air horns that Motomail supply come with the relay, so it's really only a matter of finding somewhere to fit them & running the proper guage wire from the old horn circuit to wherever you've managed to fit the compressor & horns.

I received some for Xmas & they were installed over the New Year weekend & they're f**king great! :D :D :D :D :Punk:

I got a set from super cheap autos, wired them up to the stock horn wires, even tho i moved the horns to under the rear seat cowl ( only place i felt i had room to put them) Plenty loud enough.

My bike only uses 6 volts, so I don't think a car horn would work that well...

6 Volt is pretty crappy though, unless it's dark, or in heavy shade, you can't see the indicators going or anything like that...

My horn is quiet as!

You can buy a stepper transformer mate. The only warning I'd give is that if you run one, don't load it with all kinds of electro widgets as you'll start finding that your indicators wont work etc, because your battery can't cope with the power drain.

I want those huge, f*#k off air horns that truckies use.
I don't want just deafen the pricks, but physically move them out of the way.

Yep, nothing like sounding like a truck to keep cars in line.

Looking like a truck also helps, that's why I lane split with all my lights on (I have one main, one dip and 2 driving lamps). I've found that the more I look like a landing jumbo jet, the more people will give me space.

After my best ever wreck (in the depths of a dark, UK winter), I wondered if about 20% of trucks shouldn't have only one centrally-placed headlight - to keep the cagers on their toes: no worries, it's only a bike I'm pulling out in front of...

That would make for some interesting final thoughts as they went on to where ever they are going after the wreck aye:bleh:
