Woopsadaisy. What very bad men y'all are.
Make sure you remind everyone involved to put a defunct unrelated rego plate of some sort on their bikes if they plan on riding while suspended. (Of course, that implies that they don't plan on stopping, but that'd be a given, right?)

We saw the same one four times. Rode down to the bridge on Feathers side and turned around, cop went through heading towards Welly. Then he was behind two trucks just after the summit and got past them, then I caught up with him just at the bottom of the hill. I stopped and waited for Nige and then we past him as he was parked on the side of the road just before the bridge by the Kaitoke gardens. Just trolling I guess.

Dude...my woman's bikes does more than that in 1st gear.
Some of us ride bikes that are very settled at such "high" speeds unlike say a 250cc cruiser.
BTW...I'm not advocating the speeding is safe, just pointing something out which is relevant to what you said.

Well those who brake the speed limit have to pay the price and yes the police are out in force so just be aware of it and try sticking to the speed limit so you dont end up being the next 1 to loose your licence. Not worth the risk and regardless of what you think of the police force they have a job to do and if they can keep the roads a safer place for us all then good on them. Ride to survive.

Wait till they finish that new overtaking lane in the newly named Doom Valley (serious, they have signs up now calling it that). Overtaking lanes in an 80kph area, means no chance the global recession will affect the donut consumption in Rodney.

- The cops know this
- People die at those high speeds from cars or the riders doing something dumb

Oh dear - simplistic "cause and effect" statistical analysis.
Yes, the enforcement of road speed laws may have contributed to that, but it's not the only factor. There is also the work (albeit minor, given how much money is collected supposedly for it) done to improve roads, and there have been considerable advancements in car design over the last 10 years. Most cars now have airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, and better structural design (built-in crumple zones and stronger passenger compartments).
It is simply not possible to say "policing speed limits has reduced the road toll from 540 to 339".

I'm gonna have to disagree with you here.
However, the sad fact is that now that the pohleece have got the average speed on SH1 down to 80kph the road toll is still way above what the Gummint has promised. And all the dumb policy making shits can come up with is to lower the speed limits further.
Never mind driver training, enforcing traffic laws apart from speed, safety belts and drink driving! Never mind serious repercussions for those that don't take others safety on the road seriously!
We are truely fucked in this county because of unimaginative policy makers. They think new laws, instead of common sense policing, punishment, driver training and better roads will do the trick. Lazy fucking bastards.

Inappropriate speed kills not speed itself. Roads not a race track but I also don't contend that breaking the speed limit is danerous per sec on a modern well kept sports bike.
Ride safe doesn't mean ride slow!!! any more than rider slow means ride safe!!!!

The little bit of plastic has absolutely no bearing on the physical ability to go for a ride. It does not start the bike. It does not control the bike.
It is only an item that is quite useful to have, if actually pulled over.
Speaking of which,
The obvious first move is for someone to replace their numberplate prior to going for a ride...

Of course that is like saying the combined road research knowledge of places like Sweeden, Japan and Germany is worthless. eg that they have a highly trained driving pool where licences aren't given out like cough lollies. Driving speeds are higher and the accdient/death rates are much lower. (OK Japan is 100kmh but they enforce a mimimum speed limit so everyone keeps up)
There are heaps of roads here that could take higher speed limits if people were properly trained.
I do not trust any stats that spew forth from the LTNZ (Andy Knackstedt and other mouthpieces). They stopped being relevant years ago.

But solving the problem requires more THOUGHT and MONEY and TIME to implement than chucking out a few bandaid policies that provide more immediate tangible cash returns.
"Hi, I will spend millions of dollars on training drivers so that they won't kill themselves or others over the next 40 years. Yes, I know this won't result in a positive return on investment for a number of years, and in that time we won't be able to offer you any tax cuts or increases in govt handouts, but please believe me when I tell you that a vote for me is a vote for a long-term improvement in the wellbeing of our country."
Do you seriously think they'll get elected? Nope. Country is too short sighted. People want shit now, they don't want to save up for it.
