Tyre repair kit?

Just read a great thread about what people take when they go for a ride.

I've just had the bike serviced for the first time (1000km) and am planning a ride from Auckland to Tairua to see the olds.

Can anyone recommend a decent tyre repair kit and how much would I be looking at to invest in one. I've never owned one for a bike before but it sounds like I should have one (duh)

First... have you actually seen someone using one? You really should see it in action before you have to put it in action, so you know what you have to do.

Brand, can't remember, but most shops sell a standard one, think I bought mine from Cycletreads. Has the reamer, dog turds, tool to apply turds, co2 bottles etc.

Know how to use it before you have to use it, but its brilliant having one, saved my bacon on the first day of a 8 day trip. I leave the kit in the bike all the time now along with the bikes own toolkit.

why when a vl has a tube...those kits are generally for tubess...are they not..

urrr... yeh... it has tubes?

That would mean you would need levers etc, to pull the tyre off the rim, get the tube out, glue and patches instead... unless someone knows a better way?

Turds are for tubeless, you stick it in, no more puncture :clap:

On a side note if you get a repair kit without the plastic holder for the co2 bottle, remember to wear your gloves - those suckas can get real cold when they discharge all the compressed air :cold:
