I have been hanging out on another site or two and it seems that the general concesus is that girls that ride are gay. Umm Lets say they call us "Carpet Munchers"
Now If I ride a Honda that makes me gay - gay. I if I ride a Harley I should shoot myself ....Lets say lucky I dont ride a yamaha
Thoughts?

I cant believe the mentality of some people, if your a female and ride a motorcycle that means their Gay, what a load of Crap. Thats like saying that all males who ride have small penis's or are Gay. If you believe that then you have a small mind and will believe anything. I know alot of girls who ride and have yet to come accross 1 that is gay so what does that say?. And why should it matter what make and model bike you ride as each to their own when it comes to that.

I like to think girls that ride bikes do so because they are clever, clued up, independent take on anything kind of girls-not snivelly high maintenance types that need to be spoon fed `life' because they can't go out and live themselves:headbang:.
I ride a Buell XB12XT-yes it is a `manly' kind of bike (it reminds me of one that my sons Action man rides!!!), but I don't give a rats if people think I am gay....in fact being associated with being gay is a complement as most gay people have way better personalities than so called straight people :niceone:

I have a couple of bikes - and was really disappointed that i couldn't carry on the suzuki trend when i bought my dirt bike. What it came down to for me was fit - and suzukis are what i fit. Have owned three ranging in size from 150cc to 650cc and love them.
My SV is currently obnoxiously loud and drowns out hubbies harley and i love it. Not gay, no intention of ever munching rug and still love bikes.
I think our reasons are all different for riding - i just love the thrill of blatting past cars and the feeling of freedom. I throw away the responsibility of life and just ride.

guess theres no hope for me then, having a Yamaha, a bike with an HD engine AND a suzuki in the garage!
Mind you, the 7 month babe in my tummy would probably put paid to the gay theory... or maybe not.
I know a few gay riders, and a few not gay... also a few I would SWEAR are gay! Both male and female. I dont really see the problem, cos we are all doing what we want to do and that is riding bikes... well for those of us who can still fit on their bikes, you lucky things you!
Ok so SOME ignorant people with their own pitiful self image issues might like to pretend that female riders are gay in order to boost their own warped feelings of superiority, but luckily those have been few and far between in the last few years I have been riding, it used to be quite different when I was a newbie rider.
Short but kinda funny story:
My sister and I often used to go to rallys on my previous bike, a yamaha Virago 750. One trip to Nelson, weather was SHITE, stopped at Maruia Springs to dry out. Bus load of tossers -1, pull up, and start jeering at the lesos on the bike. One nice chap comes over and starts talking to us about the bike and finds out that we are actually related, and relates the very incestious relationship back to his mates who look kinda sheepish afterwards.
Best thing tho was later on passing the buggers on the road, flipping the birdie, with the wind and rain threatening to tear us both off the bike! now THAT was cool!

I'm not gay but I've only been riding for a couple of years, so there may still be time to change.
The "chicks on bikes get attention" doesn't work for me - it's my bike that gets attention, as it should be. She is beautiful.
I don't attract many men when out on the road so maybe their first impression is that I'm of the other persuasion. But more likely it is because usually I'm more interested in riding than sex. Also many good men go fast and don't want to slow down (compromise?) - I can kind of understand that. By our age we are still pretty much full of bullet holes and dodge relationships like the plague.
C'est la vie - thank God for Triumphs!:hug:

Women that ride motorcycles are strong / confident... and let's be honest - look great. My partner gets the nod often from other riders. Almost every other time she is out guys in cars toot, thumbs up, smile and wink etc... (either because she does look hot or out of respect). She's a bloody good rider too.

With the greatest of respect... riding bikes and gay/straight/male/female... I don't care. I just don't
It's of interest I guess if one needs to work out the statistics... but when it all washes out - what've you got? A label. What difference does it really make?
Maybe I'm just getting old, maybe it's just today or maybe something else... but it's much ado about nothing really. Fun to have a giggle about so long as no-one gets hurt - even better if they're willing to shoot back (you have to watch the straight ones riding bikes... cornering's a bitch!)

I own a Honda
So I must be gay??!! Eek, better change my ways to suit the stereotyping.
No, no no. Follow me on this. According to "them" (the stereotyping small minded monkeys);
1) girls who ride are gay
2) Honda riders are gay
3) therefore the two gays cancel out and you're straight as an arrow. No worries
Dr Phil has nothing on me :D

I got told about this thread, and I've wandered into the Biker Angels area in search...
Holy shit.
Ok, chicks riding bikes are hot. Mostly because they're strong willed enough to do something for themselves (instead of sitting like a trophy in some guys WRX/Porsche/HSV)...
Do I automatically think a woman is gay because she rides? Nope. 99% of the time I don't even think about that, too busy talking about the bike.
I think there are heaps of really great women on this site - and I wouldn't give a rats ass even if they were gay.

I'm coming in a bit late on this one but what the hell....
We have friends (married) who went on an organised group ride a few months ago. They both made the comment about how "butch" many of the women were and appeared to "bat for the other team". I was a bit surprised at their comments, as when they described the appearance of said women, they were pretty much describing me.
Got my hair cut very short (extremely short back and sides!) a few weeks before xmas and hubby jokingly called it my lesbian haircut....just to rark me up. We saw the aforementioned friends over xmas break and I jokingly said to one of them about my new "lesbain haircut" thinking she would laugh, but bugger me, quick as a flash she said "well it is a bit butch, isn't it". My jaw nearly hit the floor...!!! I was so gobsmacked I said nothing in return!
There does seem to be a stereotype with very short hair.....but it's just so much easier to look after as I don't need to use a hairdryer.
I ride a Kwaka KLE500.....not sure if that matches the haircut tho??
