Hmmm.. try downloading a whole new spyware removal freeware and running it... If you have and that didnt work...
How much new data have you put onto your system since the click of doom? You could do a system restore to the day before that and that often helps...might lose any new data though(this can be prevented by copying the latest data onto a temp location)

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore... Follow the prompts from there... its pretty straight forward... You want to select all the Drives ( i.e. C, D and any others that you have partitioned) when it asks you as you may not know where the bloody virus is sourcing from... Choose a day/date a day or two before the click of doom... Let me know how you go :)

I had that one a few weeks ago,but I didn't make the mistake of buying their program to make matters worse. We used a couple of my own antivirus programs to remove it....but problems still kept surfacing. So a couple of weeks ago my son in law took everything off the hard drive, and then put them back one by one.I've lost a lot of stuff I never use,but it's faster without the clutter.

Try Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - a great free program which will clean out most stuff like Antivirus 2009. You can get from: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Now that you've done the system restore, I'd advise that you use Windows Update and download all of the latest patches and security fixes.

It seems Malwarebytes costs... so therefore not free.

Very very very risky thing to do and can often make things worse. Modern virus' reside in the system restore data too.
Malwarebytes thingie has a free version.
There's countless threads on the antivirus2009 and it's variants on KB already.
Highly recommend a visit to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ to make sure the virus is gone.

i thought that a system restore was only to restore previous settings?
it doesn't remove any installed software/programs/files.

If SP3 is installed then system restore rolls back certain SP2 files and the whole thing ends up a mess. You can also end up with the registry entries not tying in with the actual files on the hard drive.
To be honest, these days I check the registry & task manager for obvious virus'; run a couple of scans with different software (bootable CD's) and if that doesn't fix it (all 15 minutes of my time) then it's normally quicker to backup files and just reinstall Windoze. Of course, you can try a recovery install but the infections normally remain. You can do all the "hijack" this log file thing but it can take hours to resolve and if you're fixing it for someone else they get pretty farked off a virus pops up the next day cos it's not cleaned properly.
Saw matey's Kubuntu the other day. Linoooox is starting to look tempting again. WTF Microsoft persists with their stupid "registry" idea is beyond me. As the PC's get faster I'm sure we'll all be running our different applications in different virtual machines and that should make dealing with malware much easier.

Did you get your virus all sorted now ?
One thing i want to add, is that by doing a systen resotre, that just means the virus will still be on your pc, and could come back at any time. You may want to try turning off your system restore, and then rebooting, and turning it back on. Then do full virus scan. If pc is ok, then turn on your system restore again. When you turen the restore off, it deletes all previous dates, which could stop the virus popping up again. Some virus's save themselves in the restore settings.
Hope this helps
