A mentor is not a teacher for a start...

"To have a robust system that matches young and/or inexperienced riders with experienced riders who are able and willing to pass on their skills. To address concerns regarding liability of this site and it's members/participants in the Mentor scheme. To establish the requirements for, and to appoint people wishing to be Mentors. To establish an appropriate structure to monitor the consistancy and quality of both the Mentors and experience being provided to people being mentored."

i would call that teaching!

Is this another "Fishing for a reaction posts" Carver?

Or are you genuinely interested?

nope, il really do it.

i have done a fair bit of ADV riding + "stunting" if you would call it that

i have owned 30+ bikes, been riding for 10 years now, ridden MX. trials, super scooters, ADv bikes, litre sports bikes, 600's, classics, vee's, vee 4's, twins, inline fours, singles blah blah blah....

the only thing i aint done much of is track riding.

the fact is, we need a local mentor who aint a wanker, so im offering to give up my time for this.

Dude, don't take this as criticism. I'm not doubting your ability to ride a bike. And your vids are pretty funny at times.

But I think your attitude needs work if you genuinely want to mentor. I think you'd be dangerous to newbies.

What can you do to convince me I'm wrong?

See here's the problem. Do what you want is not the best advice for new riders.

A sensible attitude would be to concentrate on getting the basics right, then look to what else is possible.

Do what you want is not the best advice for new riders."do what you want" is the best advice for life I have ever taken. I go where I choose, take what I want, take advice from who I choose, ride what bike I like, speed if I want, eat what I like, and fuck the world if they don't like it.

Ok, now there are consequences - some things are risky, and I might get bent - ya rolls ya dice and ya pays ya money.

Some things I might fuck up real bad and have to pay for it. So that is the way of it.

But overall, things do work out better I think - at least I feel more in control of my surroundings. The only problem is the tirade of abuse from people who feel and act like they have no choice in the world. I dont think I will ever be able to show them they can choose, but oh well its their heart attack.
